This week, I have a pretty big set back because my laptop broke over the weekend. Now, I have a loaner that doesn't have Minecraft on it. I may have to take a trip to the PRC to download this app, or my laptop may be fixed soon so I can continue working. When I get back in Minecraft, I will continue working on Minecraft and finish building. In Minecraft, I need to finish up my mountain, trees, and streams. I will also add more trees to make it into more of a forested area.
I got my laptop back on Monday! So this week, I am continuing to work in Minecraft during class. To finish up the world of my explorer, I am going to expand on the mountains, and also add more grassy land to create the forest they had to explore through. I will also be working on completing my stream, and maybe making a few tents for these explorers, as Sacagawea did not have a permanent living space while she was traveling with Louis and Clark. It is becoming easier for me to use Minecraft now that I have gotten more familiar with it, while I still get help from some of my peers when help is needed. Downloading Minecraft on my computer was a challenge because it wouldn't work at first. After a trip to the PRC, I was able to join the class in the Minecraft world. Figuring out Minecraft was hard because i have never played before, but with the help of some of my expert classmates, I was able to get started. We had a practice day in Minecraft which allowed me to learn how to use all the tools given to you. I already have a plan for my explorer's world and I'm going to get started on it soon. I decided that I wanted a lot of nature in my Minecraft world including a mountain, a stream, and trees. I hope to learn how to make all these things in Minecraft as we go along.
Working in Minecraft has been difficult, but I was able to get somethings done. First, I started creating a mountain using grass blocks. then I added trees surrounding the mountain to make it look more realistic. Then, I made a path for my river so it wouldn't overflow into the rest of the space. Then, I could fill it up with water, fix the current with help from a peer, and added boats. After that, I created another mountain on the side using stone, so it could be the Rocky Mountains. I still have work to do, but this is great progress. |
