I would say that I am at a 4.5 because in the beginning, I didn’t know what was expected of me so sometimes I didn’t meet the full requirements but towards the middle, I understood how this class worked and what was expected of me. Some days I wouldn’t be as motivated to do all the work just because I was tired or it took me too long to complete one assignment. I think I give my digital application 5 it’s been the same since the start and it’s been pretty good. I think I’d rate my independence a 4 because sometimes I can be a little unorganized and keep jumping from assignment to assignment until I get it done. I have learned a lot about our world and how similar it can be to what we are going through now. I have learned a lot of valuable information from our Kahiau project and it’s sad to see that all these people are stuck in poverty all over the world and because of the virus it’s going to get worse.

I think that we can use technology from our western knowledge to better understand our Native knowledge. You need to a find a healthy balance between the two. If you focus on the modern world too much you’ll forget about your past and your ancestors. But I don’t think our whole life needs to be revolved around Hawaiian culture because it’s not practical anymore.
I think that because I go to this school I have the privilege of learning about my culture. Without technology, it would be difficult to learn at Kamehameha because that’s where our research and writing comes from. I wouldn’t say this is anywhere close to what people of color are going through but sometimes Hawaiians get judged for being only a small percentage of it. I think that it shouldn’t matter if you are hawaiian or not as long as you get your information from a credible source. I got all my information from myself. The United States of America is the new empire of the world. An example I can give is the government dealing with Bikini Atoll. Most military personnel that helped with testing these nuclear bombs didn’t feel bad for those affected which was many. Most of the people who were affected have had kids and created families. However, the generations after are still getting the aftermath effects with radiation defects.
Currently, America holds control over Hawai’i. It affects our Kahiau Project which is poverty because of how we have to follow by their rules. I think that before America took over our land we were doing very well. For example, we had our own rulers, agriculture, and landscapes. After we got overthrown and taken over, our own island Kaho’olawe was used for bombing. Another thing that they did to affect poverty was create minimum wage. Being apart of the US means you must abide by their rules. If we were independent everyone would have a job and a purpose on the island whether it be fisherman or king/queen. Flip Lecture 26D https://drive.google.com/file/d/161_6U7mr0eCDydQ9x4KDrm70npR4jylv/view After World War I was on it’s peace break before World War II. The winners of the war which were the allies got to write the peace treaty. One thing being that the winners made themselves look good and the losers which was Germany look bad. This treaty was meant to create peace so that all was well and went back to normal. However, it didn’t do that because people were unhappy and started up the war again and created World War II.
In Hawai’i, we obviously would be in a totally different situation if we weren’t apart of the US. I think that if we weren’t apart of the US our lives would be totally different and we might even have kings and queens still. I think that the possibilities would be endless if we were not a US state. It takes part in our Kahiau Project because if countries or armies weren’t destroyed or lessened the population poverty might be different now. The Malthusian Flux is a theory related to crops created by Thomas Malthus which is how the got Malthusian. He thought that crops were increased in a arithmetic way. His theory was basically a way to make sure no one went hungry but because there were more people than food he had ot solve that problem. This relates to BLM because there are people learning about this event and figuring out ways to help it or solve the problem.
In Hawai’i and all over the world people are losing there jobs and getting paid less. That means production of most products is going to slow down because not as many people are going to buy these things. This is like poverty where those who have jobs are freer to buy things but people who don’t have jobs are to budget what they get. Agarwal, Prateek, et al. “Malthusian Theory Of Population.” Intelligent Economist, 21 May 2020, www.intelligenteconomist.com/malthusian-theory/. Guns Germs and steel affected those in poverty because of diseases, traveling and agriculture. Diseases and sicknesses were very common one of them being smallpox and fevers. These affected their population and made it harder for those who were ok to produce what they needed. These dutch farmers and families traveled around which might of put some people in poverty.
Our group’s goal was to end poverty and make sure that everyone has a place to stay and food to eat. In Hawai’i, homelessness is an example of poverty and we have so much due to people losing there jobs or not being able to afford to live here. These factors of revolution and enlightenment have affected our world for the better. Poverty is an on-going problem that is constantly trying to be fixed. Agriculture is shown to help increase job creation for those without one. This all happens because of more food supply so they are able to lower the prices. Agriculture gives people in poverty an opportunity to get a job and be able to earn money. According to The Conversation "On 3 April, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) unveiled the Global Development Lab, with the goal of eliminating extreme poverty by 2030 using technology-based solutions. " It is going to take a long time but in the end the time will be worth it.
In Hawai'i there are many places like schools helping those who can't afford food right now get some. For example my dance studio gives out a certain amount of produce or necessities to families who can't afford it right now. Impacts of the Human Species and Factors of the Agricultural Revolution and Agrarian Empires6/16/2020 Our groups plan is to help end poverty. We found a couple of organizations that try and help end this. Two thirds of the Middle East is categorized as poor. Although these organizations only help Hawaii's poverty it's important to know that poverty is going on all over the world.
The main UN sustainability goals we chose to cover is No poverty. Obviously no poverty is a big change but step by step we can make a difference. But because we are stuck in quarantine and things are slowly re-opening we still cannot meet up with eachother or go out too much. |
