There were many so called "hotspots" in the events of the cold war from 1947 to 1991. The top 3 hotspots that you will always hear about are actually very well known. The Vietnam war, one of Americas only losses on the battlefield and in the offices. The Forgotten war also known as the Korea War. Last but not least of the three was the battle of minds and willpower. The Cuban Missile Crisis. The Cuban Missile Crisis is so well known that you can see reenactments of it in huge movie franchises like Marvel's X-Men. You can even hear about it in Robert De Niro's most recent movie "The Irishman". I don't think that the great war ever really came to an end. The fighting halted for a while but then the pot boiled over again and the world community was plunged into an even deeper hole of gruesome battles and atrocities that just harm. I don't believe it ever ended because the way that it resulted is the entire reason that the second world war even began. The Treaty of Versailles was created in spite of others instead of in light of others, that is why it just led to more conflict. I think the ways that our ancestors operated was not as simple as socialism. Nobody really owned land and everybody worked together for the greater good of the community. There was still classes of people, from Aliʻi all the way down to the Kauwā. This is a threat to the US because it is in their history to not know how to operate this way. They operate under the saying "Money makes the world go round". The system of capitalism that we live in today is not set up to help any native person or any minority. The Native American people are forced to live on reservations because they cannot afford a lifestyle like the people that put them down. This is similar to the black and hispanic community, housing is the best option that they have. The "hood" lifestyles that everybody envies so much wasn't even created by the people living in them. It was a creation of the people with money made to keep everybody else in check and keep them down. It was made to put everybody in a system of losing and fighting and scratching to stay above water.

There were many brand new advancements that assisted the US and the Allies in winning the war. The P51 Mustang was a very well needed addition to the United States Army, along with the B17 and the M2 Browning. The M2 Browning was the first machine gun of its kind. It worked well and it could kill many enemies. The P51 Mustang was an easy to manufacture single engine fighter plane. The B17 was a Flying Fortress, It could carry many bombs or troops. It is the kind of plane that bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It shows bad leadership by the US to not send help to the people that needed it the most. I wonder what would’ve happened if there were US troops in China that could stop the Japanese on their Biological warfare missions. This continues to impact the Pacific and everybody that lives in it. The Micronesian people face discrimination by the other islanders because they have no home and their culture is very different from ours. They were not given a choice when the US Army dropped the H bomb on their home island completely obliterating any life that was left. I think that many gruesome things will happen if WW3 ever occurs, Biological Warfare, Genocide, and nuclear weapons. The treaty of versailles can be viewed as the most important political document of the 20th century for many reasons. This is the document that imposed many laws onto Germany. It restricted their army and their people. This is what caused Hitler to become a dictator. His patriotism was well loved by Germans. The Treaty of Versailles set up the world for a 2nd world war because it caused many countries with similar economic issues to band together and fight everybody who is trying to hold them down. This impacted geography in the pacific and Hawaiʻi a lot. Japan set out to conquer and take over many territories in the pacific ocean which led them to Hawaii and brought America into the war. America had a good economy and they had plenty of people to fight. This brought America to becoming the next great power of the world. I think that many things were learned from “The War to End all Wars”. I don’t think the right lessons were learned from this. Instead of learning world peace from it which would make that the actual “War to end all wars” the world learned that machine guns kill a lot more people than regular old rifles. There were also many technological advances that happened in this time. Planes were brought into the public eye and used for spying and attacking. For example, by the beginning of the war France only had around 400 planes and by the end of the war France had used around 4,500. I think this can be compared to the more recent event known as “The Space Race”. We see the impacts of this in my kahiau project topic so much today. We can see it as the kickoff to mankind creating new and advancing old technologies. This all can be traced to the industrial revolution and all of those actions directly lead to the hurt that our environment is experiencing today. What kinds of leadership skills are needed to address & execute both the BIG PICTURE and the SMALL PICTURE responses you gave in your video?
It takes so much rank to even have a say in both of these conversations. To even take part of the conversation in climate change or global warming worldwide you have to be a well respected scientist. To be able to convince a world full of people that are so used to believing the same thing as everyone else takes some real deal skills. You have to be someone people will put their trust in, you have to be convincing and you also have to be someone who wants to do good. It will take a lot of work. If you want to be able to attack homelessness as an issue you have to change the whole dynamic of how people think. You have to be able to change someone from thinking “Im fine as long as I can do my own thing.” to “I want better for myself and my family and for our earth.” I know that we have started using geothermal power here in Hawaii but we could definitely implement water power much better. What was responsible for driving the industrial revolution and Europe becoming the dominant civilization culture to being colonizing and building their empire across the world? |
