In reflecting on the Exploration, Exchanges & Expansion concepts, which of the 4 major concepts impacted globalization to set up your Kahiau Project topic?
Which continues to impact your Kahiau Project topic the most today?
How do we see these impacts of exchanges now in modern America and Modern Hawaii?
We see this in hawaii because there is a lot of homelessness. This is because native hawaiians lands were taken which left a lot of them on the streets. It is also very important that this is fixed because tourism is a big part of hawaii's economy and homelessness drives it away.
What are some solutions or government positions to have in place?
Some solutions are donating can goods or any kind of goods to hawaii food banks. Also some solutions are giving food or clothes to homeless people we see on the side of the street.
- The concept of expansion played an important role in our kahiau project which was on homelessness and poverty. The concept of expansion can mean the expansion of land, population or even the expansion of the world we live in today. Expansion of population was one of the key impacts that led to the increased number of homeless people living in the US.
Which continues to impact your Kahiau Project topic the most today?
- The concept of Expansion even impacts homelessness, and poverty to this day. With the population growing increasingly, more and more people are born into poverty and homelessness.

No I do not think it did. Our topic for our kahiau project is poverty and homelessness. When a world war occurs it leaves a lot of damage to not only the places but the people. People no longer have leaders to follow left wondering what to do. This war left a lot of poverty.
This war left people with a new war. This was just trying to survive. trying to keep their family alive with what they had left. Many people also lost husbands and sons. This was a very hard time for people. A lot of these countries are still recovering from the damage done from world war I

- Thomas Jefferson and John Stuart Mill greatly impacted our kahiau project. Jefferson is from Virginia and Mill is from London. Jefferson’s theory was to have all of America to right of liberty, life and happiness. Mill’s theory was also for all of America to have rights of liberty.
- The Industrial Revolution was a time where people, ideas, and things became more technologically advanced. This had a big impact on the environment, and with this, the world saw a major increase in population. Along with this, was an increase in living standards, which led to the depletion of natural resources. This impacts our kahiau project because in a way, the Industrial Revolution and its impacts on the environment and people, led to homelessness all over the world. Even today in Modern Hawaii, we can see homelessness all over the place.
- One factor during the Era of Expansion, Exchange, and Colonization was how it impacted the geography of a place and the people in it. As the world expanded with population, this was one of the main causes of homelessness. The reason why homeless people are living today in the world, is because of the high standards in the world. That is why people are living in poverty, which leads to homelessness. Poverty is all over the world even in Hawaii.
- Something that greatly impacted our project, which is poverty, as a result of the Era of Imperialization was how some people couldn’t afford the houses that were built and some people were pushed to the side because there were others who were better and higher in status. Still happens in Hawaii because some people can’t afford a house so that’s why there are so many people living on the streets.
