ʻĀina, War, Nations and Native Identities
The aspects of ʻāina being bartered, fought over and used as collateral during WW1, WW2, and Cold War periods were the land’s resources. The different nations in the war wanted the resources from other lands so it could show dominance over other nations. I would say this is not pono leadership because the leaders wanted to take over the other nation’s land which is not good. Why did they need to take someone else’s land over?
These various forms of ʻāina are being impacted by these wars between nations in WW1, WW2, and the Cold War because the ʻāina was changing. During these wars, there were bombs and other ammunition guns. This causes the ʻāina to be hurt. When the bombs explode on the ground they would destroy everything on the land. For example, Flowers, Animals, People, and their homes. This is not good for the people because it destroys the homes that some people live in and all that they worked for back then.
Some struggles that occurred between the National and Native identities that resulted in these world wars the fear of power. Power was so strong that it could turn the nicest person into the meanest killer. People were so intimidated by the power that it changed their culture within their native identities. So many cultures feared the amount of power others had, that this world war affected pretty much everyone and their everyday lives back then. Our Kahiau Project is working with people who basically don't have any power. They are struggling due to the people with all the power. These homeless people struggle every day with limited shelters and a lack of daily necessities. One of the daily necessities that they lack is food, which is what my group focused on. We helped donate some time towards the Hawaii Meals on Wheels.
The Covid19 environment struggles from the economy and the way that current leaders run their country. The Cold war had to do with the suppression of the people which is how the kānaka of Hawaii has always been treated. Native people in the US are always frowned upon. Hawaii should focus more on who they are bringing in to the islands. People who are infected should not be allowed to the islands. We must keep these island safe from contamination.

Due to Spainʻs development, any families in Spain are forced to pay the high mortgage, water, gas, and electricity which leaves little to no money for food. Spain’s poverty rate has gone up to 40% for people who are between the ages of 20-30. The overall population of Spain has an estimated 24% of unemployed people. The development in Spain has caused spikes in prices for necessities. There isnʻt enough money for people to get food, therefore, resulting in the hunger of many.

Modern day spain is expecting hunger to eventually be a huge problem, bigger than it is right now. This hunger problem is up on the rise because Spain is about to go down the same path as Grease. The government has raised the value-added tax three percentage points, to 21 percent on most goods. And two percentage points on many food items, which is making life hard for the people to live if the food prices keep going up. For the growing population, the food in the garbage bins have been helping make ends meet. As of right now, about 80-100 people were seen searching through Garbage bins for food and it is expected to see more and more people looking through garbage bins just to make it by.

In Hawaiʻi, 161,270 people are struggling with hunger and 53,540 of them are children. Every 1 in 8 people struggle with hunger in these islands and 1 in 6 children are struggling too. So if your in a classroom of 18 students in your class, chances are that there are 3 students struggling with hunger in a classroom in Hawaiʻi. It is estimated the people in Hawaiʻi who are struggling to survive needs about $90,737,000 more per year to meet their food needs. So this is saying if you get a good meal everyday of your life, you are probably not thinking of the ones who donʻt have enough money to get a good nutritious meal in their stomachs that day. We need to change this.

The lack of equality is what caused the Revolution. The First estate kept taxing the third estate which led to poverty amongst the third estate. This made the third estate upset, therefore, leading to the revolution. Money also played a big role

Signs of revolution here in America is quite common within everything that is going on between the president and us people of america. I would compare this situation to the revolution because people are getting together to try and impeach our president. Over here in hawaii, i am seeing the revolution on the Mauna. I am seeing the Hawaiian people come together and fight against the construction on the Mauna. Staff, H. P. R. N. (n.d.). Latest Developments On Mauna Kea TMT Protest.

We can gather as much food as possible and replant several crops. This will help us from starvation but will not completely protect us. (n.d.).

The major concept that impacts the Hunger problem would be Expansion. Since everything is getting bigger, things are getting more expensive. More and more businesses are having to follow the method of “Supple and Demand” and some people cannot afford food nowadays, which is making them face the problem of Hunger.
Expansion continues to affect our Kahiau Project because everything is getting bigger, which is causing the prices to jump up. Some people are not making enough now days to keep up.
In modern America and Modern Hawaiʻi people are classified in different economic groups like the rich and the poor. Of course the rich arenʻt in this hunger problem because they can pay for whatever they want to eat. The poor are the ones living in hunger since they canʻt pay for a lot of foods. We should cut back on the food prices so everyone can afford food to live.
One way we can handle this problem better is by either cutting down the population down here in hawaii that way not just the food prices but just the cost of living here in hawaii goes down. As far as the Hunger problem world wide, have more canned food donations and more food fundraiser and more non-profit organizations to help reach out to those who are facing the hunger problem.
Some solutions to have in place could be more affordable food. Prices going up makes it harder to get food to eat because it is too expensive.

2 philosophers, that impact the hunger issue are John Stuart Mill and Adam Smith. Both philosophers are economists who had to work to build our economy. The economy had caused great oppression to people with the introduction of paper money. With this new currency, people fell into poverty and werenʻt able to afford food. This influenced the hunger population growing.

The two biggest Industrial Revolution results that most greatly impact / relate to hunger is an increase in human globalization and a decrease in resources in Hawaiʻi. Economies are growing and people in hunger havenʻt been keeping up which is causing them to stay in hunger. An increase in human globalization causes people to lose their jobs which makes them financially incapable of buying food. This is what makes them in hunger. Decrease in resources causes people to lose a lot of things like their jobs and money which causes them to not buy food which makes them in hunger.

The two big factors that occurred during the Era of Expansion, Exchange, and colonization is the fact that the world is huge, which is making the population grow, and also everyone is bumping their prices up. These two factors were caused by both India and China. India and China were both very strong with their trades. The Chinese colonization had very expensive goods which were needed all around the world. So, China would exchange their wealthy good for things they needed such as spices. These two big factors are affecting my kahiau project because since the population is growing, the prices are jumping up. From things as small as food, to as big as buying land for your house. When I compare my kahiau project to the situation of trading, I would compare it to Food drives. In order to help drive this huge problem a lot of people face which is hunger, people have to help pitch in. People trade in their canned foods, and in return, they get less hungry people and slowly help solve this problem. Akana, M. (n.d.). Exchange, Expansion and colonization. Two propelling factors that happened and most greatly impacted our project as a result of the Era of Imperialization were native identity and Rhetoric of Fear & Safety & Security. These factors play a big role in the economy. The native identity of people could have caused their social status to either go up or down. With a low social status, people arenʻt able to make money and get food. Rhetoric of Fear & Safety & Security plays a role because people might feel unsafe with current conditions.
