It created an economic challenge. Instead of everyone making their own things, and farming their own food, they started buying things. Another challenge was the inequality and unfairness. Big boss companies took over factories, and made the most money, but using cheap and poorly paid labor. This made sure they (the rich) stayed rich and the poor stayed poor. It also made a new idea that you work to get money, and they made having money the whole goal in life.
The change of the growing age continues to impact overfishing in its current form because as time goes on overfishing continues to happen overtime. Overfishing can impact entire ecosystems. It can change the size of fish remaining, as well as how they reproduce and the speed at which they mature. When too many fish are taken out of the ocean it creates an imbalance that can erode the food web and lead to a loss of other important marine life, including vulnerable species like sea turtles and corals. This impacts our “challenge” in it’s local version of Hawai’i nei by with the problems that were happening and still happening till this day also have an effect in Hawai’i nei. In Hawai’i, overfishing is a big problem maybe because we think that since we are surrounded by the ocean we have all the fish in the world, but we need to realize we should only take what we need. scientists blamed overfishing for the steep decline, which affects three-quarters of the species once commonly found on coral reefs, delighting snorkeling tourists and feeding subsistence fishermen in Hawaii’s coastal communities.

In reflecting on the French Revolution, what are the criteria that sets up Revolution to begin?
In modern America we see revolution with Donald Trump, and for modern Hawaii we see Mauna Kea and the protesters which show signs of revolution in the modern times.
How can we be prepared to handle your selected "challenge"/Project topic should a revolution occur and a Hawaiian Nation replace the current government in Hawaii? What are some solutions to have in place?

In reflection on the Exploration, Exchanges & Expansion concepts, I think the major concepts that impacted globalization to set up our Kahiau project is trades and exchanges which caused more fishing and which eventually got out of hand. Something that continues to impact overfishing is that there is no way to really enforce it. There's not enough police and coast guard to make sure that people aren’t doing illegal activities while fishing. We see these impacts of exchanges in both modern America and Hawaii because there are Game Wardens who basically patrol and enforce the laws of hunting and fishing. A solution to have in place would be to have more cops enforcing overfishing, instead of wasting money on cops. Terrorizing mauna protectors. Another solution would be to make a harder punishment.

The two philosophers that greatly impacted overfishing is Denis Diderot and John Locke. The first philosopher that relates to our Kahiau Project was Denis Diderot who was born in Langres, France on October 5, 1713. His contribution to the Enlightenment was that he was very Free-Thinking in that he came up with ideas of individualism, power of nature, and the use of reason. The fact that he had the idea of the power of nature influences the sea life as nature which empowers the importance of fishing. The second philosopher that relates to our Kahiau Project was John Locke who was from Wrington, England. He relates because he wanted natural rights of life which could connect to the sea animals and how they should have rights of not being over-caught.
The 2 biggest Industrial Revolution results that most greatly impact our Kahiau Project is one the idea of using the resources in a correct way. With the resources that are available for us to use and take care of. Although, our big problem is that our resources are gone because people don’t take care and the only reason we are struggling today is because we did so much damage in the past that we are left with not as much resources as before. Also in Empires we are able to realize how strong each empire is, depends on how they use their resources throughout the ruling of their empire. In this Modernity we are able to see the changes from the past and see what we could have in this modern day. These Industrial Revolution outcomes continue to impact our group in Modern Hawaii because Hawaii is struggling to take care of our resources if we find a way to take care of them we would not have to worry about losing them. 2 propelling factors that occurred during the Era of expansion, exchange, and colonization was coal and iron. Coal and iron powered the this period the most. The country that had it best was england, and that’s why they are credited with starting this period. The British had coal and iron, but so did china, however the british's coal was closer to the surface than China's supply. They had better access to coal, which leads to using coal to sell, to get more coal, to the power trains, to then get more coal, to make machines to mine and produce iron to in return get more coal. They basically got lucky, and were able to get coal and use it to build off itself and get more coal. This affects Hawaii, because we have barely any of these two resources, meaning we couldn’t start the revolution. Also, this means we could never produce this on our own and we have to import everything. 2 propelling factors that happened and most greatly impact your project as a result of the Era of Imperialization are high resources, and low people. There was a lot of fish during this time, and very little people. However, since there was less people, here was very high wages, meaning you get paid more since you don't have to share the wages as much. That was the only good thing about this period of industrialization However, the more you produce, the more you get paid, so this started over fishing. Fisherman didn’t want all the fish, and didn’t plan on eating it themselves. But they planned on selling it to others. They got got greedy and decided to make as much money as possible. |
