This Kahiau Project has helped me to understand the concept of being an action researcher & Global Citizen by helping and caring for the children. My project made me realize that simple things can make a huge difference in someones life, similar to the children at the Kapiolani Hospital. Helping others are great examples of global citizens and I'm glad that my friends in our group is setting great examples to others. Being an action researcher on the other hand is very effective, it can improve many leadership skills and increase your thinking skills.
While doing this project, I saw many patterns with my group and the children. I saw that in order to be successful we had to work together and do things in a certain pattern. This helped us a to because we were organized and our project was successful. Another pattern that helped was this website that kept us up to date and in order. I learned many perspectives in the research process like, being put in the kids shoes and how it feels to be in a hospital often. I also learned about what kind of diseases the kids have and how hard it is for them. We often see many perspectives of other people sick and how their life is very miserable but for the kids its very sad. It kind of is the same because the people and the kids are both sick and need care. In the beginning of this project I expected that we would've done a different project on something else because we all loved the beach deeply. So i thought we would've done something on the beach instead. It was similar to the actual process because we had to help the kids just like we would've helped the ocean and beach by cleaning it. The results were somewhat the same, we would have happy children just like the happy ʻāina. An effective long term plan for action is very effective because we can plan things out good and have time to make any changes. Some things that worked was we changed it to letters instead of books because of last minute decisions. We could have done something instead of waiting last minute to do the project and taking advantage of the long period of time we had.

This website, is of Kapiolani Medical Center. This can be used to contact the Medical center and for further usage. For example if any of you want to help or donate to the kids easy contacting is at this website. For our project, we used this website to contact the children and made an arrangement to read to the children. We hope to help kids like this whom need treatment and special care. This little girl is happy because of the dog who's there for comfort. Our project we hope the books will be comforting to them. Many kids in the Kapiolani Hospital are ill and sick so we hope that reading to them will make them feel better. Overall our project will exemplify us as good and industrious students.
How is your project aligned with being a Global Citizenship??
My project is very well aligned with being a global citizen by incorporating different ways of being a leader. Taking care and helping the need is one example of being a global citizen, this is why we chose to do this project "Books for Kids." My group felt the need to do this project especially because we can gain many new skills and it will make us feel good that not only are we helping the kids but setting good examples to the other people in the world. We hope to impact other people so they can become global citizens and gain the skills needed. During our project, when we read to the children, this affects me because I feel like a great person helping them and it will affect me in my later life on what kind of person I would be. Our project will affect the community greatly and thats our wish so others can take action and help the needy children. We think that Hawaii, our island need to be more caring instead of greedy and help the sick and homeless. My group loves to care for kids and exemplify global citizenship and we hope others will too! Me and my group decided on doing this project on this topic because we felt the need to help all the kids at Kapiolani Hospital. Especially because my group loves kids. The children at the hospital are very hurt inside and out so we wanted to help them grow and become better by reading books to them. We expect to collect books that will be donated and give them to the kids at the hospital.
Me and my group will be collecting books and donating them to the kids at Kapiolani Hospital.
