Winter break for me was pretty awesome and I got a lot of things done. During the break started and finished my drivers ed course in a week. Every day during the second week of winter break I showed up to a drivers ed class. I passed with flying colors and am scheduled to get my driving provisionals on February 19th. However, as self involved as I was, I wasn't able to serve as originally planned. A few weeks prior to my winter break from school, I was planing to go to Makaha and hold a beach clean up with my uncle and some of his coworker lifeguards. We were going to sweep the whole beach from Patricks pond (furthest west) to the last lifeguard shack (furthest east).
When it comes to colonization in Hawaii it is both good and bad. Here in the land of Aloha, we pretty much welcome anybody here and were happy to see a friendly face in Hawaii. However, this has started to become a problem of a bigger scale in the last few years due to overpopulation. A few years ago, i interviewed the Waianae District Representative, Maile Shimabukuro. We talked along the lines of our transportaion system in Oʻahu coming out of Waianae. She said, ʻ25,000+ cars come in and out of Waianae throughout the day and night causing bad trafficʻ. As you can see, this has turned our government to take more drastic measures to fix this issue. These include adding another lane to Farrington Highway, Farrington Highway is the only road to use to get in and out of Waianae. Another measure that was taken, was the rail system. Funding being approved in 2005, and construction starting in 2011; the rail system originally scheduled to finish during the year 2020 but got postponed to about dragged out, now scheduling to finsh sometime during 2025. This rail project and extra lane on the highway were both designed to alleviate traffic congestion esspecially with this rapidly growing state. Personally, i would usually wake up at around 5 AM to get ready, and leave my house by 5:30. Then, ill sit in traffic for about 1 ½-2 hours in order to get to town by the time school starts at 7:30. In the future i hope that the government will be able to acknowledge and finalize this now growing issue soon.
