This Kahiau project helped me understand the concept of being a global citizen because the concept of this entire project revolved around identifying yourself as someone being part of an emerging world community and whose actions contribute to building this community's values. In world history, we learned a lot about well known global citizens such as Schindler and Ghandi and what they did to contribute to their community and how they impacted the world. Some patterns that I have seen are that there is a lot of having to call businesses to ask the same question on how can they help us. It takes a lot of time and effort to call each business. I can't even imagine the struggle of being homeless. We are very privileged to have the things we have and this is the least we can do to help out our community. I learned about the perspective of homeless people and it's very different from how we live. We have a first world perspective, thinking about all of the first world problems like our phones dying or not getting what we want to eat while other are just barely surviving. We honestly didn't expect to be so well prepared for the project coming into it but I am glad that our predictions were wrong. An important thing to have is the long term plan because it really did help us along the way knowing what our goals were and the time frame we wanted to complete it in. Something I would have done different is changed the way we asked people to donate. I believe if we had more publicity, a lot of people would be willing to donate and we would have a lot more donations.

This week was a good and productive week for us. We have talked through our project and have a good outline on our plan and a good timeline for what we want to get done. We have decided that we are going to call IHS sometime this week and will find time to figure out what we are going to ask and what we have to work with so we can finalize our plan to take this project into action. Our project is well on its way. This week I was on a trip and did not get anything done for the project specifically. I have kept in touch with my group to see if they needed any assistance from me. The group has filled me in on the whereabouts of the project and where we are as of right now. Majority of the kinks and problems have been resolved and the groups focus this week was to get rid of all of the problems. The project is coming along smoothly despite of my absence. This week was a very productive week for our group. We brainstormed this week and last week and have a good idea on how we want to execute our plan. We are continuing to work on all the problem areas and the plan in general. Our focus this week was mostly on our plan and on the website, which is coming along quite nicely. We have also set our focus on the slideshow and have we are continuing to put our 100% efforts into the project. This week, our group worked through the kinks we have had with the project. We did more research on our topic and continued to solve the problem areas we have in our plan. Our group brainstormed a lot this week on some ideas we have in mind on how to execute our plan for the project. We are continuing to brainstorm as we go into our third week. The project is coming along slowly but surely. This week was a very productive week for our whole group. We have started the project strong and have planned a schedule for the course of the project. I helped set dates for our plan, and have been working out the problem areas we are having with it. Although there are a couple of road bumps, the start of the project is a success. Were continuing to work on our poster, which has been a small challenge for us and have been working on the website for our project. |
AuthorAloha my name is Josiah Hernandez. I am a 15 year old sophomore at Kamehameha Schools. Being able to help others and having them show their appreciation is a feeling unlike any other. I believe that with this project we can show our generosity and gratitude to the less fortunate and make a change for the better in their lives. Archives
