1. Did the world learn the lesson of the War to End all Wars?
The world has gone through many ups and downs. Clearly not every country gets along. With that said, wars are created and action is proceeded. After the “First Big Fight '', countries and other parts of the world came to the understanding of no wars to come down on them. However, this agreement did not last long. Soon came along World War II or the Pearl Harbor attack, and then now currently the fight between the United States of America, and Iran. As you can see, obviously this agreement was not taken upon due to the other wars and tribulation that took and still currently does take place. 2. Where/How do we see the impacts of the The Great War in our Kahiau Project today? Multiple wars have impacted thousands, maybe even millions of veterans. Veterans that suffer from PTSD struggle with life financially and just in general without the support of family. I myself can make a personal connection to this problem. As a young girl raised in Kahuku there was always this old man “Uncle Joe”, he was a veteran from the Vietnam war and struggled from PTSD. Uncle Joe would sit in front of our local superette grocery store and do nothing. He was a very kind person and people would often buy him his favorite, Pepsi and a musubi. Unfortunately Uncle Joe passed away, but he is remembered through a painting of him on the side of that same store. With that said, veterans do end up homeless because they don't have the support that they need. This relates to my Kahiau project because our topic is based upon poverty and homelessness. BIG PICTURE (MACRO): How do the Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, Colonization and Imperialization work together to perpetuate (make happen) your Kahiau project topic on a global scale?
Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution worked together and basically created the life of poverty. Industrialization created new jobs for plenty of people to work and make money. However, as time moved on, so did the demand for new product. This caused large companies to find a faster and cheaper way to produce product. Machines were created as a beneficial way to create more product at a cheaper cst. People began losing jobs and not making enough money to support their families. SMALL PICTURE (MICRO): Now that we understand better WHY it happened, what are some things that we need to do starting NOW, here in Hawaiʻi to address (work against/undo) the social problem locally? Things that we need to start now in hopes of benefitting our Hawaiʻi is, getting all these homeless people jobs. However, sometimes people are just helpless. Meaning that they have the opportunity to become better, but choose to take advantage of the state and be supported without doing anything. Most homeless in Hawaiʻi do this, because they have access to everything they need. I would say that we locals should start motivating these people in getting better that way they get off the streets.
