I think that our project was very good. We helped the community by cleaning up parks and donating to cancer. I think that although our efforts will probably go unnoticed by many people and others may reverse our effects by littering more, we still impacted the community just a little. This relates to being a global citizen because we were cleaning the environment for everyone else to use and donating to a disease that could infect anyone. I feel very strongly about keeping our ʻaina clean, this connects to the plastic bag ban and the group that opposes it. Leaving trash around really affects everyone and everything. By just picking up those small pieces of trash, you make the world that much cleaner.

We've finished the cleaning up part of our plan, now we are still collecting donations. Our donations haven't been coming in as expected so we are just trying to go for the triple digits. We will try to get at least $100 for the Cancer Center of Hawaii. I think that getting donations is harder than it seems because we have to convince people to offer money to things that scientists are already working hard to research
We did both of our park clean ups. Collecting donations is our main goal right now. The clean up in February wasn't so hard. Tanner Young is now trying contact the Cancer Center of Hawaii. We are going to give them 100% of our donations and we won't take a single penny out of it. Well we are going to try our best.
I've asked some of my relatives to come out and help us clean. First we will scout out Maili Beach Park. If the park is really full of parties and bbq's then I will have to reschedule my clean up. Hopefully it is dirty because a lot of people use that park and so it's very dirty sometimes or very clean.
My partner and I are currently trying to spread the awareness of the litter and other dirty stuff in parks and cancer. We are making posters and fliers that will help encourage people to help our cause to cleaning dirty parks and curing cancer. We will soon put these up for our upcoming events. Thank for the support.
My name is Julian Gaison. I currently attend to Kamehameha Schools. My project is Clean up for Cancer, we will clean up community parks and receive donations to give to the Cancer center of Hawaii. I want to give back to cancer patients because my Great Grandmother died from cancer 4 months ago. I also want to clean up parks because I used to live next to a park but it was so dirty that I never wanted to go near it, I don't want kids to be like this and become people who are so into indoors and don't like going outside. |
