Impacts of the Human Species and factors of the Agricultural Revolution & Agrarian Empires
The UN sustainability goal we decided to study is No Poverty. We chose no poverty because in the middle east 41% of the population is classified as poor and 25% of those are in poverty. In Hawaii 9.5% of our population is in poverty. According to World Bank 10% of the worlds population is in poverty and have to live on less than $2 a day. Poverty is such a big and ongoing problem that branches off a creates more problems. It falls hand in hand with the development goals no hunger and good health and well being. These are the 3 biggest goals to fix.
Projects like IHS and Project Hawaii are providing care and shelter for those who need it to help them get back on their feet. Hawaii Foodbank donates food and has food drives for the people who don't have jobs. In this pandemic there has been several food drives hosted by Hawaii Foodbank because so many are losing their jobs to the virus. Patrick, M. (n.d.). Project Hawai'i, Inc- Helping Homeless Keiki. Impacts of the Agricultural & Scientific Revolutions & Age of Enlightenment
During the Scientific Revolutions and Age of Enlightenment time the British were exploring and finding the "new world." They took many of the natives from their homes and emptied their empires of all the resources they had. The slaves were taken back to Britain and forced to do the hard labor like farming and factory work. This sent many empires into poverty. The development goal our group is studying is No Poverty. This relates to age of enlightenment to because British troops also sent the Mughal empires people into poverty.
In Hawaii there is not a lot of poverty but we still have some. About 100,000 to 200,000 people are stuck in poverty. Hawaii has been hosting food drives for all the people who lost their jobs from this pandemic or are on the verge of poverty. We have a lot of people in poverty because the government in the states send them here with bribes to get them out of their states. We are holding many mainland poverty for them and that is why our numbers are high. Peters, E., & Salmon, J. (2020, February 04). The age of revolution. Impacts of the Industrial Revolution & Rise of Class Stratification
Agriculture and Science have changed poverty for the better. A lot new inventions or old new inventions have helped create a slightly better place for those in poverty. Two thirds of the middle east is in poverty today. The reason for that is due to the low amount of job opportunities. The government is also very poor in the middle east. According to Carnegie if a family is poor for one generation they will most likely be in poverty for several more generations. Someone shouldn't suffer from someone else's mistakes.
Most of the middle east is in poverty because of poor education, populations that grow faster than economies, etc. This creates a vulnerability for the future generations because they will reproduce and create more children who will have to live in poverty from their poor environment. In the middle east more than 30% of the population is unemployed and trying to find jobs to support their family. Impacts of the Industrial Revolution & Rise of Class Stratification
Here in Hawai’i Class Stratification happens sometimes. There are those who are the regular people that you see on the day to day basis and then there are those who are in poverty. It also doesn't just affect the people in poverty. It compares the middle class to the higher class. Regular people in Hawai’i don’t respect those who are homeless or who are in poverty. Almost everyday you can see someone who is asking for money or is just on the streets. Others tend to look the other way or say they don't have cash on them. We tend to look at them like criminals and drug addicts. Yes sometimes they can be a little crazy but they could also be very respectful and are just hungry.
Our project is about no poverty which means we want to help those who are struggling to get the help they need. We want to end class stratification that causes a lot of problems and makes us feel different from everyone else. It separates us into classes that sometimes make us feel less than ourselves. Comparison & Contrast of Current Revolutions to the Case Study of the French Revolution in History
In the French Revolution there were 3 estates. The highest and richest starts at 1 and then it drops down to the 3rd estate which is the peasants. The peasant suffered the most during the Revolution because they did all the physical labor from morning to night everyday. They got very little pay for their labor and suffered from lack of food or diseases. Even though they worked the hardest and got little pay for it they were also taxed relentlessly. They were taxed on everything how many children they had, the land they were on, the products they had possession of, etc.
The French Revolution compares to the job loses in current events. The pandemic is making millions lose jobs and is suffering financially. Just like how the third estate suffered from the lack of money from their first two estates. The difference is that it is not only affecting the poor. It is affecting all classes. Nobody is sure they are gonna keep their job, it is unpredictable if you are gonna get fired or not. Schwartz, Debora B. The Three Estates, 2009, cola.calpoly.edu/~dschwart/engl430/estates.html. Imperialism, Modern Warfare & Identity Crisis
Colonization and Imperialism plays a part in our kahiau project because of the different powers and politics. In our empire, there was a dynasty with 5 main leaders. Those leaders were all related to each other. Even though some of the leaders had multiple children they were probably born into this kind of leadership. That is one thing that we talked about before how it’s not fair. This is not the case sometimes but all of these leaders were good leaders.
Most of the time the leaders suck and they give bad rules and do dumb things. Our empire is no longer alive anymore but they have said that the Mughal empire had the best army. Akbar was the third leader and was the one who created a great and strong army. The first 5 leaders were amazing but the sixth leader Aurangzeb was the leading cause to the Mughal empires downfall. The military declined from lack of money and the British took everything they could find money, slaves, and the land. This made the empire go into poverty which relates to our kahiau project. “Untitled: Jun 26, 2020 10:22 AM.webm.” Google Drive, Google, 2020, drive.google.com/file/d/1kn7DaWeO8KI2kblnAQXYfbFRYyLCUg0B/view. |
Connections to World War
World War I has made a huge impact on poverty all around the world. Common wars sway considerably on monetary turn of events and the everyday environments of neighborhood populaces at the hour of the contention and for a long time from that point. There is anyway strikingly minimal precise comprehension of the job of neediness on the beginning and term of common wars, or the effect of common wars on the lives of those in battling territories and on individuals' own office to get away from neediness. Common war has been distinguished as one of the primary driver for the ingenuity of destitution in numerous locales of the world war harms foundation, establishments and creation, pulverizes resources, separates networks and systems and executes and wounds individuals.

Despite the fact that there is an enormous assemblage of proof on the ruinous impacts of war, we are still a long way from seeing how these impacts might possibly persevere across time. The treaty caused joblessness, neediness, and starvation. Away from Germany, it removed property from Germans. The reparations part of the Treaty of Versailles caused the breakdown of money and swelling in Germany and with these two occasions the German individuals investment funds were cleared out.
In todayʻs society, World War I has caused a huge impact on todayʻs poverty. From the finish of World War II until 1964 the neediness rate in this nation was sliced down the middle. Further, 94% of the adjustment in the neediness rate over this period can be clarified by changes in per capita pay alone. Monetary development is unmistakably the best antipoverty weapon at any point contrived by man. The treaty also brought things into todayʻs society like unemployment, limited amount of food and resources, and everyday living things. At the point when the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service assaulted Pearl Harbor and murdered in excess of 2000 Americans, it definitely modified heaven inside the Hawaiian Islands. It brought ordinary Oahu life of the individuals, the travel industry, and all enterprises of the island to a stop and changed Hawaii radically. This topic bridges the historical issue with the national and local issues in current events.

Between WW1 & WW2 & The Great Depression
After World War 1 the Treaty of Versailles that brought "peace" to those who fought made Germany pay heavy reparations for the Allies who technically won the war. But Germany owed billions of dollars and failed to make the payments in 1923 and its economy crumbled. Germany increased currency printing to meet their expectations. In October, 1929 countries such as Germany, Britain, Canada, Japan, and America were going into the Great Depression. In America, New York's Stock Exchange collapsed and is known for being the greatest stock market crash in the history of the US. It is also known as the Crash on Wall Street or Black Tuesday (Friday). The Great Depression affected poverty greatly because in 1929 poverty levels reached up to 50% of the world in poverty.
There is 10% of the world in poverty which is way better than 50% in 1929 but since the virus started millions lost their jobs and had to go into poverty. In current events stock markets have crashed and people have been losing their jobs just like in times of the great depression. Many people compare this to the crash on wall street because at least 26 million lost their jobs and now are struggling to provide for their families. Poverty levels are also on the rise because the economy is trying to get better from this pandemic. Amadeo, K. (2020, June 30). How the Lows of the Great Depression Still Affect Us Today. WW2, The Great Depression & Atrocities of Imperialism & Nuclear Warfare
World War 2 happened because of World War 1 and the Treaty of Versailles. Germany felt suppressed and was blamed for everything that happened for the war. They had to pay reparations worth billions of dollars. This made it worse for the poverty in the world because following the Treaty of Versailles and WW1 was the great depression where 50% of the world was in poverty. Although poverty had gotten better since the great depression era we are not on track of the predicted poverty in the United States. Scientists predicted that we would be under 5% by 2010 but in 2020 we are still in the 10-15% range.
Donald Trump has been trying to end the 'endless' wars in the Middle East but Trumps decision to kill the Iranian general Qassem Soleimani backfires horribly. He caused a stir in the middle east and even more hostilities. World War 1 was also like this because they made the Treaty of Versailles to supposedly make peace between the countries fighting but it only enraged the Germans more. The connection is that they both made efforts but they also made a bad decision on how to deal with it. Goodman, J. (2014, January 23). Why We Lost The War On Poverty. Impacts of the Cold War
The U.S war on communism was the idea of containing communism and preventing it from spreading. The cuban Missile crisis was a 13 day standoff between Cuba and the United States and was finally ended when Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev agreed to remove Russian missiles from Cuba in exchange for a promise from the United States to respect Cuba's territorial sovereignty. This was a peaceful negotiation but very close to a hot war as tensions were rising. When countries turn to war as a way to solve problems the results are catastrophic. It can cause mass destruction, poverty, and loss of life. One of the causes of war includes greed. It could be for natural resources, geography, or power and control. Most times war is devastating. For example in Japan specifically Hiroshima and Nagasaki where 225,000 either died or were injured. The after effects of such an event could be just as bad or even worse especially in the long run. The UN sustainability issue our group chose to address was poverty. Wars in many countries have often led to poverty. Such as the war in Afghanistan. In many cases conflicts that occurred in these regions damaged infrastructure, businesses, houses, etc. A lot of which are hard to come back from. Due to the number of nuclear arms in the world if a WWIII were to ever occur I can only speculate that it would not end well and a large number of people and their communities will be lost.
Due to colonialism and forced government dependence the native people are stricken with poverty. To this day we can see they are still paying the price as many natives are still unable to return home where plants and seafood are unsafe to eat. As seen in the video streets and neighborhoods are overflowing. This relates directly to our UN issue of poverty. This shows bad leadership actions from the U.S because as seen in the video the government is not doing much to help the people affected by the bombings. Akana, H. (2020). Empirical Globalization in the 21st Century
The development of Global Empires affected our current society negatively and positively. The positive is that the developments of Empires all over the world helped us learn and establish trade, communication, and knowledge. Ideas were considered the most valuable thing to trade in the 1700. The Empires negative affect was most empires were built out of military conquest or political/ religious sabotage. This created more poverty in the middle east than everywhere in the world. The battles for military conquest takes a lot of the populations money and creates destruction to the civilians.
The future generations depends on us to spread the issues of our empires and their impacts to history. They could be the ones to solve the problem in the near or far future. The best way to pass something down is by teaching it to the present generation who will also pass it down. The BLM movement for colored people will go down in history and support their rights well. We could pass these movements down and that will prepare our Lāhui to support and remember its impacts on society. Khan Academy. (2018). Comparing the rise and fall of empires (article).
