Compare & Contrast 4 points for each of the following (minimum 3) : historical fall of Rome, Great Britain (Ghandi), USSR (Iron Curtain during Cold War), or in Australia or Africa and compare with the pending fall of America that is being predicted soon.
All of these events have all had a major impacts in history. The most thing in common I think is that all of these countries were very successful before they collapsed. Does this mean that there is a barrier on how successful a country can become before collapsing. I think that the cause of all these collapses were the leader. For example, after Mansa Munsa ended his leadership of Mali, the country started to decline. America has been a successful country and may end up just like these other countries. Maybe because of the leader or maybe another reason we don't know.

What are some examples of how Capitalism & corporate economics (Walmart/Walgreens/Target, etc) is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue?
These big corporate businesses are creating challenges in our island because they make it harder for individuals to start their own business similar to these and compete with their prices. That is one thing I could think of that these business could cause poverty in our Island. Why is this something to consider: Do you see a specific (friends or family you know) with a personal connection to these issues that connect with poverty or other social challenges (and please try to find at least one) - what/who is it and why? I do not know a specific friend or family member that is connected to poverty. What, if anything, are you learning about how economic trends impact your Global issue and how has your understanding of the impacts of it perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a worthwhile challenge or problem to be addressed? I feel like our problem is something that we need to address because poverty is a problem but it is not because of our government system. I think what i've learned shows that poverty is the cause of the individual not being able to work, being dependent on the government, and not spending their money wisely. What are some examples of how COLONIZATION OR GLOBALIZATION is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue?
Globalization is creating a problem of dependance in Hawaii. We are so dependent on our food coming from outer island. We depend so heavily on this that we grow a bare minimum of our own food. So far it has worked for us. If something were to happen and the ships stop coming in then we will have a serious hunger problem. Hundreds of thousands of people will starve because we cannot self sustain ourselves like our ancestors. Why is this something to consider: Do you see a personal connection to this (and please try to find at least one) - what is it and why? I think this is something to consider because something like this can happen. We are not prepared for an event like this. My personal connection to this is that I live here and my dad used to work at the docks. My dad used to use help unload the shipping containers. He knows how many shipping containers come in every day. What, if anything, are you learning about Colonization or Globalization and how has your understanding of the impacts of Colonization and/or Globalization perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a challenge or problem to be addressed? I am learning a lot about Globalization. Globalization has a lot of pros but comes with some downside. A good thing about globalization is that a country can help another country. It could also go the other way around. If a country depends on another country and something bad happens to that country then they both are impacted. We can look at how globalization helps to fight hunger but also sometimes creates hunger. |
