The three hotspots in the cold war were the Vietnam War, Korean War, and the Cuban crisis of Latin America. The lecture said the Vietnam war began because America wanted to expand communism throughout southern Asia. The second hot spot was the Korean war. It began as a civil war soon became a Cold War crisis involving major world powers. And the last hot spot was the Cuban crisis in Latin America. It was considered the flashpoint in the cold war.

Gandhiʻs leadership trait was intelligence and peace. Since he was well liked and respected among his community he got a lot of things done. And one of the reasons he is well respected is that he did all of that without violence. Which is a very intelligent way to fight for what you believe is right. In the rabbit proof fence a leadership skill that she portrays is determination and intelligence. With the journey being very long it takes a lot of intelligence and self-discipline to continue on while you're also making sure your younger sisters are safe. In Schindlerʻs List we can see that his leadership skill is a little different than Gandhiʻs and FRPF. He was more powerful and stern, so people felt like they had to follow him. This plays a part in saving our people from the outbreak in Hawaii because we are in the middle of nowhere and should be safe. But people are saying that our governor should be more rigid and lockdown the airports and any in and out of Hawaii. It isnʻt his choice to say whether we get to shut down certain things but he also is not doing enough to enforce the rules and expectations. Citations:

Relating to our Kahiau Project, our topic has to deal with life and resources on land. Many countries have gone off to war to fight for better preserving land for their own country. But war has led off to more issues in land and resources. The environmentʻs health status have slowly decreased throughout time due to reasons such as war. Today, the problem with wars aren’t as present compared to our past, but the technology was another factor that has currently affected our environment today.
The war factor that deals with the territory and land ownership may connect to current situations to Hawaiian Identity and determination. Currently, Hawaiʻi has been strongly observant and passionate about the Hawaiian Identity. That creates power in the territory and determination arises. This makes a nation powerful and less likely to fall. Hawai’iʻs identity continues to bring passion and determination to help raise the identity for the future.
In some ways I disagree yet agree that the modern world is indeed a victim of the Malthusian Flux. I agree because it seems logical that in order for the population to decrease you need something out of the ordinary to stop it. Just like what the Malthusian Flux had mentioned about disease and war. I don't think that he took into consideration how revolution and evolution was going to play out in the future. But the Malthusian Flux was made a really long time ago. I disagree that the modern world is indeed a victim of the Malthusian flux because of the key word victim. According to some websites and blogs people think that the Malthusian Flux is wrong. This is because Thomas Malthus thought that the world's population hit itʻs peak during his time of writing the theory. But little did he know the modern world is estimated to have 9 billion people by 2050, with 7 billion people now. During his time he thought World War I was a war to end all wars but in reality it was the war that changed all wars. Citations:

You need to be intelligent to know what is going on around your community and the world so you can take action. Some leaders are often intelligent but donʻt do anything or try hard enough to make it right. This leads to why another skill is to be respected by your citizens. It make your job easier if you have people to back you up.
For the Small picture here in Hawaiʻi i think the leadership skills needed to fulfill it is faith and wisdom. You need faith because just like Haunani Kay Trask some people will be against you but you need to have strong faith in what you believe. For Mauna Kea she had to battle the bigger authorities and it was a slim chance of actually winning. But that is when the wisdom and knowledge comes into play. She said herself that you need to be educated in a global perspective to know what is happening around you and to get the most accurate information. For the community service my group planned to go to Hālona blowhole and do a beach cleanup. We signed up with a non profit organization called 808 cleanups. So in my group we had one border so she had to do her cleanup on her island instead of being with us. The plan didnʻt really go as exactly as planned because one member couldnʻt make it. But I went. Something that went well was that I learned more about why they do these kinds of cleanups. I think it was good that the leader of the organization was a kamehameha alumni. He taught us more about the land then I think any other organization would. He even talked about the native plants that grow by the kove. What could have been better is if all of our group showed up. Yes my understanding of the UN issues of humanity is improving. I learned a lot on January 4. The leaders seemed to be very passioante about what they were trying to show others about taking care of the land. Yes, because my leadership skill of communication improved when we worked with others about the cleanup. |
