The most important connection between World history and current event advocacy is that because of history we have something to advocate for. because of history we have something to advocate for is the most important connection because advocacy in all its forms seeks to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society due to history, are able to Have their voice heard on issues that are important to them. And defend their rights. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-sussex-53037041 The most impactful idea and or concept that I gained from going throught the Rock your world curriculum about the importance of media advocacy in how this generation will create solutions to global/worldwide issues is how with media advocacy we can prevent making the same mistake that we as people made in the past. By showing us the consiqeunces of those actions. https://hawaii.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/gi18-socst-wwii-liberate/gi-jews-jewish-americans-in-wwii-us-soldiers-liberate-nazi-concentration-camps/#.YEcCF5NKh0I

Colonization set up and/ or impacted my Kahiau project as we see it globally throughout our study of history, by providing us with the resources to build and set up the types of energy that we use today. It was because colonization they were able to take control of lands that held resources like coal and oil, like fuel. Which were used to kick start the industrial revolution that built the energy sources that we have today like power plants, and oil rigs. These hurt our modern efforts to meet these challenges because it makes those in power and those who are innovative to fix these complacent because yes these things do the job of giving us power. It's also killing our planet by helping the intensity of climate change. It makes us complacent because of the thought process of”if it aint broke dont fix it”. With this thought process those who run these big businesses that own the land that has the resources of coal, and or oil don't want to find more clean and affordable ways of energy. Another reason imperialism changes the understanding of these things is the money they make from it creates a lot of greed. They don't want to invest in ways of cleaner and more affordable energy because of the fear of losing money. This helps deter us from navigating for a solution because this makes people think it's not a problem because those in power don't like to talk about it. It's their influence that keeps that thought of climate change to continue to be an opinion instead of the actual problem that it is.
The industrial age & revolution set up & impacted my Kahiau Project because without the industrial age & revolution we would never have had to deal with the problems of finding clean and affordable energy. Because The industrial revolution was an increase in production brought about by the use of machines and characterized by the use of new energy sources, and it is not capitalism. The industrial revolution began around 1750 and it occurred across the earth but it started in Britain. Machines and demand of items from outside ones community pushed for more production. Europe became dominant because Europeans believed they had cultural superiority. Another thing responsible for driving the industrial revolution and Europe becoming dominant was that they had coal. And Britain had lots of coal and steam engines so they used the coal for the steam engines to get more coal. This played a part in my 911 project by helping build the things that made pollution. A lot of pollution was made with the more stuff we made like cars and cities because there began being too much of things and things get trashed over time and with all this stuff were making were not disposing of those things so they just sit there and do harm to the ecosystem and wildlife. The French revolution on the other hand doesn't set up or impact my Kahiau project. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1v_bkDrp7h_ktmQclqGGfjkxYN2w-Dd-WyEr7ln06bC8/edit

Because for example the French Revolution One of the factors that incited the French Revolution was the Economic crisis within the French government The government was over spending and not enough taxes were coming to support those debts. The higher class kept spending all of the country's money on their luxurious lifestyle, other countryʻs like the American Colonies, and war with Great Britain. This relates to a problem in Hawaii right now with their crazy high taxes due to tourism. The French revolution is a good example because it shows how so many people can work together to solve a problem if they have a common enemy. So the only way to solve these problems is to get enough people to work together and come up with solutions to these problems. The leader I researched was Genghis Khan, was the founder of the Mongol Empire which he would rule from 1206 CE until his death in 1227 CE. Born in Temujin, he acquired the title of Genghis Khan, and after unifying the Mongol tribes, he attacked the Xi Xia and Jin states and then Song China. In the other direction, his fast moving armies invaded Persia, Afghanistan, and even Russia. Extremely ruthless with his enemies, countless innocents were killed in his campaigns of horror. Genghis Khan was an able administrator who introduced writing to the Mongols, created their first law code, promoted trade and permitted all religions to be freely practiced anywhere in the Mongol world in this way, Genghis Khan built the foundation of an empire which would, under his successors, ultimately control one-fifth of the world. The icon that I chose was Don Keʻala Kawaʻauhau Jr who was the MC of the first big Hawaiian rap group called Sudden Rush. I chose Don Keʻala Kawauʻhau Jr because I didnʻt know who he was before I started to research him, all I knew was he was a Hawaiian rapper from back in the day, so I thought it would be interesting to learn more about him. Some of the leadership terms my leader exemplified was accepting because he let anyone believe in their own religion and he wasn't hard on the beliefs of his people. |
