1) From day 1 to day 30, 0 being worse & 5 being best, gauge the improvement of the quality of work about history you produced in World HIstory.
I am going to give myself a 4 because throughout the summer, especially during these times of craziness, I always look for the best, and I always try to do my best kind of work every assignment that has been assigned for this class. 2) From day 1 to day 30, 0 being worse & 5 being best, gauge the improvement of the quality of the digital application you produced in World History I am going to give myself a 5 because I have really improved on a lot of digital platforms like FlipGrid, Photoshop, Weebly, and more. I really enjoy using these digital platforms and that’s why I am rating myself this number. 3) From day 1 to day 30, 0 being worse & 5 being best, gauge the improvement of the independence & self-organization/direction you have exhibited I am going to give myself a 5 because I have always been good at organizing like time management, turning in assignments on time, getting in touch with the teacher, and always asking questions if I need help. Sometimes I enjoy working by myself, but there are some other times where I want to work with a group. 4) Was the work/learning interesting, valuable, & adding to your knowledge base? Explain & share something that you felt was valuable? share an aha moment you had Yes, the work in this class has added to my knowledge only on specific topics. An example would be WW2 and some other things like our Kahiau project (Climate change/Climate action). 5) How can making better connections between historical events & current events be helpful to you in the future? Making better connections between historical events and current events will be helpful to me in the future because maybe one day, I am going to have to compare things and give my opinion. 6) Has the Kahiau project been valuable in learning Project management, applying digital & critical thinking, making connections between historical events & current issues we face? Explain why/why not. Yes, this Kahiau project had been very valuable to me by, growing my knowledge, growing my skill on digital platforms (Weebly, FlipGrid, Photoshop, Quicktime, etc...), and also helping me collaborate with my group and growing communication/collaboration skills. It has been making connections with historical events by us vlogging about the past and talking about events that have been in history for a while which makes it historical.

Our families can balance the need to compete in European or Western sense by protesting and fighting for what Hawaii owns. An example would be something just like the Mauna movement. Hawaiians fighting so a telescope does not get built on sacred land on Mauna Kea. We can ensure that our native people are valued in this modern world by, making us known to the world. An example would be us being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Being popular is one way of being know and value in this modern-day world.
I can use my gift and privilege from my education that I learned from Kamehameha Schools to ensure that the native identities of our Lāhui and other peoples of color by being a part of protesters and movements that are going against our Lāhui. Again, and example would be the Mauna movement and probably the Black Lives Matter Movement as well. Another way I can use my gifts is to become someone who really supports our Lāhui and making Hawaii one of the most respected places in our country. GET INVOLVED. (n.d.). White - America, July 8, 2020
Summary: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many people are losing their jobs, not collecting income, and starting to become bankrupt. Just today, this news article states that Americans are starting to go hungry and starting to suffer from expensive products and no income of money. The reason why these things are happening is that people are not making money because of the pandemic restrictions and also businesses need money so they raise their prices, but now people can not afford things like food. Geography Theme: Human-Environment interaction is the theme of this article. Humans are not doing things that are right and making it worse for others. For example, stores raising prices for food and water which makes people who are suffering from no income from jobs, live even worse. Also, another could be just people being homeless already. Here in Hawaii, we already have a pretty big population of homeless, and they are already suffering, and now, they are going to suffer even more because of this pandemic. Reaction: My thoughts on this article are how can Americans do such a thing? Even here in Hawaii, stores are raising prices for items. This connects to me and my home by me being a human. I and my family still need food and now prices are going which can cause problems for others. I also connect this to economic structures because the economy is dying slowly and we don’t know what to do. The only thing we can hope for is our governor trying to make better choices for us as a state of Hawaii. I hope things will improve soon, and that people will come out of suffering. Connections/Analysis: I connect this article to economic structures because, during this time, it is hard to get what you want because of low income or poor lack of government money. This connects with world history because maybe one day, this will become a day that will be one of America’s major conflicts. In conclusion, we will have to wait to see what comes of this since it is only the first day of it being posted on the news. Bibliography/Citations: White, M. (2020, July 08). Some differences we have with each other is that sometimes we have different accents in our language or we even speak a different language. Some things that are similar is that we all have been through some type of war before. Management of resources is sort of the same like us, we sell them, we buy them using currency/money to get what we want. This can also be called using the theme name human-environment interaction.
America makes problems in our Kahiau project by the burning of fossil fuels and the chemicals from factories going into the earths atmosphere which causes climate change. Again, my group’s Development goal is climate action. Its always the burning of fuels that will cause global warming, temperature changes and even harming animals and us. Here in Hawaii, we already experience hot temperatures, but as days go on, it will most likely get worse if the world keeps up with the burning of fossil fuels. Some examples of the burning of fuels are cars, planes, factories, and more. One way we can help is by investing in electric cars or electricity everything. Pillalamarri, A. (2019, October 15). Summary: Due to the coronavirus pandemic, countries are struggling to get the economy back up and running. In this case, South Africa’s government is requesting an expansion on its nuclear power plant, but without the money, they are not able to afford it to make it happen. Unfortunately, due to this being the first article posted on this topic, I am unable to talk about why they want to extend their power plant. This is caused by the hard times South Africa is experiencing right now, actually, the whole world. Geography Theme: Human-Environment interaction is the theme of this article. Humans interacting with their environment in order to try to get an item. Geography is a part of this by us interacting where this specific request in this case. In this case, the location is South Africa. As mentioned in the article, it is taking place in South Africa. In conclusion of this paragraph, location is what is important about this article if you bring in geography to it. Reaction: My thoughts on this article are that why can’t other countries help with things of need for other countries? I know the world is going through some hard times and we must all help each other to get through it together. This affects me because it hurts my feelings about how other countries in this world are suffering from financial problems. South Africa one day will get their economy back up and running, but it is just going to take a lot of time to make it happen. In conclusion of this paragraph. The expansion on the nuclear power plant is going to have to wait. Connections/Analysis: I connect this article to economic structures because, during this time, it is hard to get what you want because of low income or poor lack of government money. This connects with world history because maybe one day, this will become a day that will be one of Africa’s major conflicts. If they are requesting an expansion on their nuclear power plant, that must be important because to extend one of those is risky to the people living in that environment. In conclusion, we will have to wait to see what comes of this since it is only the first day of it being posted on the news. Bibliography/Citations: Burkhardt, P. (2020, June 14). The Treaty of Versailles is the signed paper that marked the end of World War I. Without Germany surrendering at the end, many more things could have happened that would have also been marked history today. Hitler could have been the top ruler if Germany never surrendered so early.
The end of World War I and the Treaty of Versailles impacts our issues in our Kahiau project by it helping the earths atmosphere not gather that much reactive waste and fuel-burning like smoke and carbon dioxide. Again, my group’s goal is climate action/climate change. It affects the modern society today by teaching us the history of the past to people of today. Here in Hawaii, it is pretty important because our Pearl Harbor also symbolizes the beginning of another World War, which is the beginning of World War II. An example here in Hawaii would be the bombing of Pearl Harbor. History.com Editors. (2009, October 29). Treaty of Versailles. With the population of the people in the Black Lives Matter movement, it creates a bigger effect on the world. Some examples would be breaking into shops because there is an abundance of people, and even starting riots and protesting on streets in the world. The worst thing that could happen is people killing each other because there is a population going against them.
These things contribute to our Kahiau project by going against our UN Development Goal. Again, our goal is climate action/climate change, we as people are not helping this. All of these things can burn fossil fuels and even cause more reactive things in the earths atmosphere. Some things would be like world wars causing smoke and gases that affect climate change. Even here in Hawaii, causes that happen could be the Mauna movement like people that makes a population being a part of the Malthusian Flux theory. In this case, it would be India and people who are a part of the Black Lives Matter movement. This also reminds me of the Mauna movement as well because people are fighting or protesting until the government or leaders will agree with them of what they want, in that case, it would be sacred land.
Some examples of these connections I mentioned would be the Black Lives Matter movement. It would be people fighting, complaining, protesting, and even causing unnecessary things that don’t need to happen. For example, burning American flags, breaking into stores, and even killing people. In the movie Gandhi, the people treating him like that was not right. On my slide in this presentation, I mentioned about farming and how farming worked with animals and crops. My groups Un Development Goal is climate action/climate change. Our goal is to see what can we do as people to help the earth with its changes in climate. This creates the issue of poverty because it has to do with farming again.
Some examples of poverty from the slide I have created are farming and animals. As climate changes today, I wonder if they were going through the same problems some people in our community are suffering today. Examples like unable to grow crops, heat affecting animal’s lives, and more. Climate change will continue to change the world of farming, but in what way will it change it? Graber, C. There are some advantages and disadvantages that work with our UN Development goal. The one that creates the most poverty would be the Scientific revolution because, for example, machines that are used to run the revolution burns fuel that affects climate change. The issue our group chose to study is climate change/climate action.
As years go by way after the scientific revolution, we continue to burn fossil fuels. Fossil fuels create heat and other reactions in the earths atmosphere like global warming, and air pollution. These things are disadvantages to our goal, but some advantages are that our economy is running faster and the creation of technology is helping us to grow more as people. Some technology, for example, phones, computers, health equipment, and forms of transportation, and much more.
