Our plan over the Christmas Break for the Community Service was working with the nonprofit organization Hui ‘O Ko’olaupoko. We were working to help make the hui a better place and keep all of our native species alive. What ended up happening was that Caleb went to go and help out, but Joseph and I couldn’t attend the community service to help out with Caleb and the organization. Joseph’s parents couldn’t take him because they didn’t wake up in time for them to get there on time and I had Wrestling practice so I wasn’t able to attend this Community Service. The things that went well were the fact that Caleb went and was able to get the information need to interview them later and we can do that because we got an extension so we are able to get this interview and maybe even do some more community service in the future for this project. The things that could have gone better were that we could have all attended the meeting and we could have got better pictures and maybe even got a video instead of Joseph and I not showing up and now we didn’t get any video and now we have to go and get a video. If we showed up we wouldn’t have to do anymore we could have just finished everything there and not have to worry about anything else anymore. I think my understanding of what people are going through and the struggles that a lot of people in this world have are starting to get to me more because I am understanding what you have to do to just survive and what it takes just to make this money so that you can stay alive because as we grow as a society we start our prices go up and we get more and more homeless people in Hawai’i. So, yes I think my understanding has improved and I have learned so much through working with the organizations and on this project. Yes, what we were supposed to do over the break was to help with our leadership traits because we are trying to help our native species and the community from these invasive species. ON example that Caleb showed was leadership because he was the only one to go along with the two people from the organization and showed that he can help the community even by himself.
