After our busy weekends we finally found a time all three of us are available. We are not going to do it with another group anymore because we aren't all free at the same time. We will be doing a beach clean up on Sunday May 7th at. Please come and help clean up the beach with us. We will create a safer environment for our families, and save animals' lives. By cleaning up the beach we can help prevent kids stepping on glass. We will also prevent birds and sea animals from trying to digest or get caught in trash. So come help make this world a better place.

We are now going to work together with another group. We were originally going to do a beach clean up and invite others but we've found another group at our school who were actually thinking of doing the same thing so we will team up. We will still invite others to come but now maybe we can grow our group even bigger.
Today we've decided we will do a beach clean up because we could raise money to help another organization to help wild life or directly help them ourselves. We are determined to do a beach clean up because it would be the best way we can connect directly to our ʻāina (land). There is plenty of trash on beaches and things such as plastic can kill marine life such as turtles. In doing this, it also helps with the pacific garbage patch. This is a giant area filled with trash. We could help lower the growth of the garbage patch by cleaning the beach so the ocean can't take all of the trash out to sea.
This is our Hugs for Honu site. We would like to help wild life. Brooke, Kanani and I have been discussing ideas to do such as hosting a surf competition or baking things to raise money and give to http://www.wildhawaii.org
We want to help save and revive marine life here in Hawaiʻi to help perpetuate our culture and allow our wildlife to survive. |
