I think I improved the concept of quality work by a lot. I rate myself a 3.5, before I was kind of doing everything mediocre then after all of the research I eventually got the hang of making all of the ideas come together. I was doing quality work during the school year but during the summer I want to be kind of laid back and relax. Doing 1 week of work every day was kind of overwhelming sometimes. I think as time goes on my quality of work will improve even more and so will the other skills that come along with this course.
I think now I am a 4. Before I liked working in groups but being independent lets me think about my ideas more. In groups some people don’t come through with their share of work and it messes up everything. If one person does not do their work then it makes the whole group held back a little bit. I have also been a lot more organized when it comes to doing my work and where everything is. And finding ways to figure something out if it’s either asking my teacher or classmates. It definitely was. There were certain topics that were very interesting to me. I didn’t realize how much abuse the Jews experienced. I knew bad things happened to them but it was worse than I imagined. I will probably remember the things that interested me. I also learned how it connects to current events happening today and how things in the past may have influenced things today. When something like the Black Lives Matter movement happens again then we will know why people of color are mistreated. You can see how history has affected today's society. In the future someone from this class could be the solution to all of this and use history to solve a problem. Another World War could start and we may be able to find a fast solution to save a lot of lives. It has been very valuable. I didn’t see the importance of technology until I learned about the Industrial Revolution and World War’s. It also is one big factor that impacts our UN development goal. It hurts and helps our goal but I think it will only hurt it more. As time goes on new things will be invented and the world will be evolved. Soon water in China may be undrinkable and how are scientists going to fix it? Technology. Seeing how history still impacts our world today is very valuable. Bobby Parker. (2013, May 07). Summary
Due to Covid-19 the tourism industry in Fiji has been hit hard. Now they want to attract locals. They are making special packages to attract the local people. Even though some of them have the tourist attractions right outside of their doorstep Fiji needs this to work because tourism is the backbone of their economy. With 40,000 workers unemployed and having travel restrictions the industry has been frozen for 3 months. According to the Bureau of Statistics, there have been 709 total visitors in May 2020 but compared to last year there were 73,169 visitors last May. Showing the impact of Covid-19 on tourism statistics. Geography Theme I think this relates to place because Fiji is located in the middle of the ocean. There are many things that attract tourists every year. And since tourists cannot travel to Fiji during this time. It affects the whole place. The hotels and restaurants are not getting as much income anymore. The tourist reliant places are taking a big toll during this pandemic. Reaction It’s no surprise that places that rely on tourism are being hit hard during this pandemic. Since no one can travel anywhere that means there are less and less tourists. It’s nice to see that one place is trying to find solutions to keep their economy up and not let it die. I think other places have to start doing something like this to make the locals interested in what their place has to offer. Connections/Analysis This connects to analyzing history strengthens our critical thinking skills. The leaders of Fiji had to find a way to keep making money for themselves. Even though it was a risk to do this they still saw that only good could come out of it. If they didn’t do anything then they would slowly go into a bad situation that would be hard to get out of. If this keeps them stable until the pandemic is over I think this is something that other places should follow or start using in the future. News, R. (2020, July 08). Fijians urged to support local tourism. Retrieved July 09, 2020, from https://www.rnz.co.nz/international/pacific-news/420821/fijians-urged-to-support-local-tourism We can still balance our European/Western sense but I feel like we have to embrace out Native values more. For example, we can take care of our land. If you see some trash on the ground you should go pick it up. Basically anything we can do to preserve our land helps out. Our ancestors relied heavily on the land and it helped them out a lot. So the least we can do is to take care of it. To make sure that we are valued in the future we should have things that only our Native people know how to do. For example, the food we make and other things we make. If only our Native people knew about those things our culture would have something more to offer. Everyone that gets the opportunity to be in Kamehameha should take their opportunity to learn and educate themselves. If people take it seriously they can do some amazing things in the future that can help out the lāhui. For every spot taken at Kamehameha, 10 other people would want to be in your position. We should use that as a way to take our school a little bit more seriously. People from our school could be the next president or impactful leader like Gandhi. People of color are still being mistreated right now and only one native has to speak up. Having a permanent impact on people of color would be the first step to having our people remain steadfast. 5-malama-aina. (2016, December 01). Retrieved July 09, 2020, from

I think since we have an abundance of resources we have a lot of excess resources. And that’s why our food and material is sold all over the world. And now we don’t need expansion because everyone can ship their resources to different parts of the world. Before the predecessors would have to take over another place to unlock new resources. Native people aren’t being treated differently than before. People aren’t treating them the same because of their color. And the government has done nothing about it. No policies or laws have been put down so every no matter what skin color is treated equally. America has brought all of its technology and inventions to Hawaii. Factories, buildings and businesses were made. Pollutants from factories go into the sky making the rain more acidic. And also the sewage from the factories pollute the water. If Hawaii was left alone and America never found us then I think that the condition of the water would be way more clean. Even though we wouldn’t be as developed like other places we would still have been doing fine. Our ancestors survived and so could we. And it ended up in Germany having a poor economy and weak government. If the Treaty of Versailles didn’t punish Germany so hard then Hitler would have never come in and say “I can fix all of it.” If all of the nations included paid for a little of it and Germany paid a little bit more than they wouldn’t have had a poor economy in the first place. Ending up in Hitler never becoming popular and not starting WW2. He would have still been arrested and kept in jail. It was such a bad time he gave hope to people and that's why people liked what he was saying. The advancement of technology because of WWI was another step to make our issue of clean water and sanitation even worse. If technology during war times wasn’t so heavily used then no one would have tried to make advancements. There would still be pollution in the world but a lot less than we have now. The thirty meter telescope was planned to be built on Mauna Kea. This was another big technological advancement that was being made. Everyday new technology is being made for good and bad. Sometimes it can help out the water. Sometimes it can pollute the water even more. Chris Smith Last updated: 10 November 2018 - 8.56am. (n.d.). World War One I communications technology. And the Black Lives Matter movement was a wake up call to them. Saying that “Hey, this is still an issue. Fix it.” I think after this they will have a little more vision on what is happening around the world. It doesn’t really affect poverty because no one is losing anything. If something is a problem for long enough something bad is bound to happen eventually. I think the Malthusian Flux theory is actually playing a big role in everyone's Kahiau issue. The government is so out of touch with all of these other small issues that they just let it keep getting worse. They are focused on this pandemic and other world issues. Their attention is so set onto that, they do not see what else is happening around them. Water in China is getting worse everyday. Poverty levels are getting higher. It just gives another reason why the government has to look at these other issues because they are the cause of all of it. The Mauna movement is also a good example. The government approved building this telescope on Mauna Kea; they didn’t know the deep connection the natives had with it. They wanted to build this to increase their knowledge of space they had no respect for what they were going to build it on. March 13, 2. (2020, June 25). And now they are on track to extinction. For the past year, blazes statewide have affected 24% of koala habitats. Chairwoman Care Faehrmann said, “The strategies and policies currently in place to protect the koala aren’t working.” 42 recommendations to help koalas were welcomed by the government but were not adopted. Climate change is a continuing threat to wildlife and is harmful to the koalas survival. Geography Theme I think this relates to place because in Australia bushfires happen all the time. If it's from lightning or a rock hitting another rock. It happens a lot. And it doesn’t only hurt the humans but it affects the wildlife even more. Animals that rely on plants to eat have a smaller food source because it gets burnt down. Koalas for example eat the eucalyptus tree. Diseases such as chlamydia have hit koalas hard. They severely impact a koala’s health and some populations see a 100% infection rate. Reaction When I was looking for articles about Australia I was very shocked to see this article. One of Australia’s most iconic animals. Habitat loss and wildfires are not doing them any good. It’s sad that they are on track to extinction. If Australia wants to save the lives of koalas they need to act now and figure something out before it’s too late. If koalas go extinct it’s like having one of Hawaii’s state animals going extinct. And that would just be totally devastating. This is where I feel like the government has to use their power and resources to help the koalas out. Connections/Analysis This connects to gathering evidence, and to find patterns and trends. Something like this will happen to another animal population so the government should find a solution to this problem and use it as a model for future problems. Australia will always have wildfires and animals so they should know how to handle this if they figure it out now. Other places around the world can possibly use this solution if something like this happens to them. We should all be very cautious about what is happening around us. You never know. Tomorrow one of our state animals could be close to extinction too. And we would be in the same situation as Australia. To prepare we have to make sure we take care of our land and keep it healthy. That made him see that Indian people did not have equal rights like the other races did. He then encouraged all of the people that came to his protest to burn their passes. This then evolved into Gandhi getting hit by the policeman and he did absolutely nothing he just kept on throwing the passes into the fire. This applies to the Black Lives Matter movement because the only people being violent in the movement are the policemen. The protesters aren’t doing anything. They are just standing up for what they believe in and do not want to be violent. I think the Gandhi approach is a model that everyone uses now. Gandhi saw that if you fight back you are no better than the people attacking you. Even though when he was thrown into jail and beaten he said that you should just love the opposition. Mauna Kea is a good example of Gandhi’s model. People did not want the telescope to be built there so they set up their tents and protested. People were arrested but no one resisted. Eventually the project was postponed but when they come back again, all of the people will be there. Erickson, E., & Scechter, B. (n.d.).

Just like my last vlog the topic does not really affect my goal. Guns, Germs & Steel were used to dominate other places. Germs could have a small contribution to this goal. When outsiders came to New Guinea they brought germs which made the native people sick. And ultimately killed a lot of natives there. The water could have been used to dump the bodies in and let them rot which causes the water to be polluted. If anything water was used in these civilizations for their agricultural needs. In today's society we have all been affected by the coronavirus. Just like the Westerners, the virus has spread to every place around the world. Everywhere you go you can see people with their mask on. Some people are dying because of it and some places are not. Just watching the news you will probably see at least one story on the coronavirus. Scientists all over the world are trying to find a cure for the virus. Not only Hawaii but almost everywhere else, a social distancing plan has been put into place. This is to help reduce the spread of the virus. This means that you can’t go out as much anymore. Now in China they still do this. Rice is a big crop in China. It makes up about half of China’s total grain output. The revolution was probably the earliest form of using water to their advantage. Now pesticides are a thing. And it is used in farming and it has potential to contaminate the water which makes water sanitation worse. The Scientific Revolution and age of Enlightenment didn’t really create our issue. Not only in China but all over the world. Everyday people go to their farms and tend to their crops. Over time things were made to control insect infestation and weed growth. Even though it does good things it still harms the water. It can also harm humans. A few things are being done to minimize the use of pesticides. An organization was made to inform people of what pesticides to do not only water but people as well. They say to find non-toxic chemicals to provide the same purpose. Works Cited:
