Over the break, My group and I had planned to volunteer for the organization, Hawaii Foodbank. We decided to work with them because our topic was world hunger. With them, we hoped to achieve the goal of being able to feed those who are less fortunate enough to have food on their plates. What happened was quite the opposite. We did not do our service over break as planned. The organization had not contacted us, therefore, we weren’t able to work with them.
Nothing really went well. We ended up not doing the service as planned. There were a lot of things that could have gone better. We could have done our project. We could have done sour service. We could have planned better. As compensation, we broadened our organization’s choice. I don’t think that my understanding of poverty is really improving. This is because I know what it is like to live in poverty. These past projects are like a reflection to me and there’s nothing being taught to me about poverty that I don’t really know(besides the exact numbers). I think that my understanding of leadership is expanding. We need to be leaders to help the next generation out. We can achieve this by learning from previous leaders actions and results. |
