What are some examples of how COLONIZATION OR GLOBALIZATION is creating challenges in your own island, community, state, nation that relates to this UN Goal / Issue?
Colonization created a big problem in Hawaii when foreigners came to Hawaii and starting claiming land. Now it is very expensive to live in Hawaii so the local people can't afford to life here.
Why is this something to consider: Do you see a personal connection to this (and please try to find at least one) - what is it and why?
This is something to consider because it becomes a problem when the Hawaiian people cannot afford to live on their own land. I see a personal connection because I don't think I will be able to afford to live here.
What, if anything, are you learning about Colonization or Globalization and how has your understanding of the impacts of Colonization and/or Globalization perhaps influenced the way you see your group topic as a challenge or problem to be addressed?
What I learned about Colonization is that it's not fair for foreigners to come to people's homes and make it too expensive for them to live their driving them out of their home.
Globalization creates problems because many things are made elsewhere and has to be shipped into Hawaii. This makes things expensive in Hawaii and creates homelessness.
We should consider this because many things in Hawaii are a lot more expensive than on the mainland and this becomes a problem when we cannot afford things leading to homelessness.
I am learning that if things stopped shipping to Hawaii we may not be able to survive.
They create challenges on our island because they are able to make things cheaper because they can handle a lot of parts of getting their product here. They are cheap so the local stores cannot stay in buisness.
We should consider this because we should buy things local because if their business cannot survive then they might become homeless because of the big coorporations.
I am learning that economic trends have a high impact on our issue homelessness because it causes most of it.
