This project helped me to understand the concept of being an action researcher because we had to research how to get our t-shirt design approved, how to get the fundraiser cards for Jamba Juice, how to volunteer with Poi Dogs & Popoki, and we had to figure out how to sell the cards. We had to research a lot before we took action. I think that this project connected to what we learned about global citizenship because we had to do our part to make positive change in the world. We talk a lot about the bad things happening in the world during our socratic sessions, etc. but this project was a way for us to have a positive influence.
In the beginning, I thought that we were just going to be able to buy the punch cards from Jamba Juice and sell them easily. However, we ended up having to get in contact with Poi Dogs & Popoki and get their permission to fundraise using their name. We also had to ask a lot of people if they wanted to buy tickets, and many people either didnʻt want to, or they didnʻt have any money. The process took more research and effort that I thought that it would, but it ended up working out in the end.

This week I was able to sell three more jamba juice punch cards. I sold a total of 7 tickets so far. I am still trying to sell them, but a lot of people forget to bring money to buy the tickets. I will continue selling the tickets to my friends and maybe start selling some to my family. We also re-took our group picture this week.
This week I sold 4 tickets. Our group is actively selling tickets individually, and we will continue selling throughout these next few weeks. Our project relates to global citizenship because we are bringing change to the bigger community. This project allows other people to help our cause and help animals in need. By buying our tickets, people have a way to help make change for the better.
This week, we brought our money to school and gave it to Victoria so that she could buy the fundraising tickets from Jamba Juice. We all have 20 tickets each that we bought for $5 per ticket. The tickets are to be sold for $10 each. I have only sold one ticket so far, but there are a lot of people interested in purchasing tickets. I am planning on continuing to sell the tickets to my friends, and I will sell to my family and friends outside of school if I need to.
Update #4:
This week we finally settled on an idea to fundraise for Poi Dogs & Popoki. We decided to work with Jamba Juice or Zippyʻs through their fundraising programs. We will purchase coupon cards from Jamba Juice or Zippyʻs and then sell those coupons for a higher price to our family and friends to raise money. We are currently in the process of sorting out the details of the fundraising application with the help of Poi Dogs & Popoki associates, so that we can begin to purchase and sell the fundraising coupons. We might need to change our plan for our project. We tried to get a t-shirt design approved to sell at school, but the approval process is taking too long. By the time we get our t-shirts approved and printed, we probably wonʻt have enough time to sell all of them. We are trying to come up with new ways to raise money for Poi Dogs & Popoki so that we can have a project idea that we can finish by the time the project is due.
This week, we tried to come up with a design that we will print onto t-shirts. The plan is to get this idea approved by the school so that we can sell the shirts at school for $20 each. The shirts will probably say something about animals. We tried to make a design that people would actually want to wear so that we could sell a lot of them.
This week, I had to join a new group because my partner left our school. We were supposed to sell spam musubiʻs outside of school to raise money for a homeless shelter. Now that my partner left, I am in a new group called the Animal Protectors. This group is trying to raise money to donate to an organization called Poi Dogs & Popoki, which helps rescue animals. My new group is trying to make t-shirts to sell around school.
