so today we did our project and it went great. i think that this project taught me that being a community helper is so important because one little thing can turn into a big problem and keep rolling and only become bigger and bigger as time goes and the longer we wait, the worse it will get. some problems that we faced today was in the beginning, the lead organization, trees to sea, showed up late and at first it was only myself and my partner together waiting, and after a while everyone started to show up.

Its the weekend, the weekend we chose to do our project. We are teaming up with "808cleanups" . They are a non-profit organization that cleans from mauka to makai. they don't only clean beaches, they clean up streams and hiking trails. We chose them because we thought that it was good they cleaned beaches and hiking trails because we love to do both. We are joining them in cleaning Palolo valley on Sunday. The picture is of where we are going to go this weekend and clean up.
So we changed our beach clean up project into a waimanalo stream clean up with an actual organization. so now this weekend we are going there to do our project and help the organization clean up the streams. The reason why we changed the beach clean up again is because my kudu said that the beach clean ups were going to have a big impact in the community if we were just doing it by our selves, so we found an organization that is doing a clean up that was convenient for all of us.
This project has taught me that being a global citizen is a very good thing. Being a global citizen helps the world be a better place. It will inspire people to do what you're doing and if more people clean up beaches, pretty soon the beaches will be so clean and it will continue to get more clean because the more people inspires the more hands there are. Some patterns that i saw in the work that we were doing is that me and my group are very un organized. We had to cancel a lot, and make new dates on the things we were supposed to do. Some things about the research process was same because i mostly researched which beaches had a lot of trash, and most of the beaches had trash so it really didn't matter what beach we cleaned up. I knew that the process of planning things were going to be hard because me and my other partners all do different things and all live in different places so i knew trying to find a time that we could all fit together would be hard. A long term planning process is very effective because like my group you could have ran into bumps in the road and if you are planning ahead of time you have the time to re plan and still get the project done.
Our project is almost due, and me and my partners haven't done the beach clean up yet. We have a set time, and a set place but we are waiting for the times to come. So now the official plan is that we are going to Makaha beach park on May 6 10-3 to clean up/pick up trash. We will all meet up at the beach before 10 and start cleaning when all of our group member make it. hope fully this goes well.
My project is alligned with being a global citizen because by use cleaning the beach, we are setting an example, and if we inspire people, more people will get involved and eventually pollution will be a problem that no longer will be a global problem. Personally, this affects me because i love the beach and hate all the trash thats on it/ in it. Another reason that this affects me is because this this is where i live! It needs to keep on being where i live and we just need to take care of it.
Makaha beach is very nice, and a lot of the locals go down that side to surf, to have parties, and to just have fun, but they don't realize that if they keep leaving the rubbish it isn't going to be a place they want to go to anymore. So my group wants to help clean it up because it is one of our favorite beaches too. i live down on the westside so i see the trash a lot when i go down to the beaches, but most of the times i just let it go and don't mind it. Now that we are researching for this project and I'm finding out the actual numbers of trash there are I'm becoming more aware, and more concerned and willing to help clean up.
this is along side of the road going to yokohama, i found this on the internet, But i also counted the left over scraps of broken down cars. The count that i got was 13 cars on the side of the road. i think that it is so disrespectful to just dump you're rubbish on the side of the road. not only is it ugly, it is un-sanitary. I mean there are rubbish dumps for a reason. some people are just too lazy to actually go to the dump to throw away their trash.
At this point we have decided we are going to do our clean up on May 6, 10-3 at makaha beach park, and also we joined with two of our other friends who are also doing a beach cleans up. We were struggling to put our schedules together and all the times before were inconvenient for us, between having wrestling matches, and family trips it was hard to see when and where would be the perfect times to do this project.
We planned on going to the beach to go clean up but things got in the way. We planned on doing out beach clean up on april 23 but our partner went on a last minute trip so we couldn't do it. Now we are planning on doing the clean up with another group next week on the weekend so it is good for the both of us.
