For the community service, my group planned to meet up with an 808 Cleanup crew at Hālona Blowhole to pick up trash around Cockroach Cove. We planned to meet up on Saturday, January 4. Sadly, not all group members were able to show up. Matthias ended up with the flu and Ryan never felt like it. I went by myself but later on, another group from the class showed up so we did our interview with them. The cleanup was pretty laid back which I liked. Another good thing was that it was next to a beach so I got to jump in right after. Some things that could have gone better were the number of people that decided to show up and if my group members could show up, but I was able to get my part of the project done. I think my understanding of my goal and issue is growing because this cleanup showed me why the environment is suffering so much these days. A reason for that is how much trash we found. We counted 308 cigarette buds just from a small space of the cove. We would also find many plastic and glass bottles all over the area. I think my leadership skills might improve from this experience because I could take some of the supervisor’s leadership skills and apply them to my leadership skills which I think would make me better. VLOG #1What has impacted my leadership growth the most is learning about all these leaders. We are learning about all these leaders from different countries and empires and they all seem to have at least one thing in common. The reason why I feel these leaders impact my leadership is because of their traits and how they handle things. What interests me to strive for excellence in this class is all the things I want to know more about history. I like to learn about many things from around the world and wish to travel it one day. So I feel that if I learn more things about these other countries and their past empires then I might be able to connect with people from that country. Last semester I just tried to get through with everything and worried about my grades so I never really strived for excellence other than grades. VLOG #2The two biggest industrial revolution results are global warming and pollution. When the Industrial Revolution first started, the earth was already getting warmer, this is because of the constant burning of fossil fuels. Studies showed that global warming could have started in the early 1800s, and the industrial revolution started in 1760. The bad part about the burning of fossil fuels was that we never knew it would’ve created a problem until now, but knowing about it now is too late. As the years go by we are burning more fossil fuels which cause the earth to get warmer and our climate to change. We feel that the Industrial Revolution has played a big part in global warming and pollution for Hawaii because now we have all these factories and plantations that burn fossil fuels which cause our islands to get dirtier and hotter. VLOG #3Ways we see the Maltusiam Flux theory in WW1 were all the deaths that it caused. During the war, more than 3 million soldiers died and about 5 million people died from diseases that were being spread throughout the war. This actually supported the theory because the theory was stating that the population of humans need to stay down and not overpopulate. The Malthusian Flux theory plays a part in global warming because of all the things that we do to the Earth. When we overpopulate the Earth we use up more of its resources and this causes the Earth to go ill and when we burn all these fossil fuels it causes plenty of carbon dioxide to go up into the atmosphere which makes our planet hotter which then leads to the melting of the polar ice caps. This then leads to our ocean rising which will then eventually drown many lands. VLOG #5It was really important because it was a treatment to end the first world war. It was the most important treaty compared to the others. This treaty was imposed on the major raining powers during the war. It caused the next war because they called Germany a loser and took certain things away from them. This caused them to become mad and later broke the Treaty of Versailles. VLOG #6The top 3 WWII tech that had an impact on the war were the atomic bombs, machine guns, and fighter planes. The new machine gun was able to fire 600 rounds per minute while also having a better gun sight. They could also sustain heavier and more accurate fir on an enemy position. Fighter planes were used to gain air superiority over a battlefield while also trying to shoot down enemy bomber planes. These fighter planes were equipped with high power machine guns and cannons. The atomic bomb was first introduced in the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States in 1945, killing 210,000 people. President Truman only used these bombs to bring Japan to its knees which is just what happened while also ending WWII.
Well, the United States does not really have an idea on where to practice bombing they pretty much just find somewhere there that is big enough and just drop a bomb. An example could be Kahooʻolawe. The U.S did not care if the land had cultural meaning to us native Hawaiians they just when ahead and practiced the nuclear bombs on it. |
