Colonization sets up or impacts my Kahiau Project topic as we see it globally throughout our study of history by making our solutions only reach our country or so far. Being that the whole world isnʻt united or under the same government/ laws, it makes it hard just to get the solution to our entire country, and now the whole world. It hurts our modern efforts to meet these challenges because we can only spread the message and make an impact so far. These world problems might not want to be solved by some countries as they think it is useless or they are too poor to do it. Thereʻs many conflicts in the world that prevent us from helping everyone. Imperialism has changed our understanding of these things in History through the lens of our cultural history by evolving over time and being able to learn about different cultures, languages, activisms in the community, and much more. Over time, weʻve become better at accepting and understanding different people and their history. How they found solutions to things and learning/ evolving. Our mindset and how we think have evolved drastically. It helps us from navigating for a solution to these problems here in Hawaiʻi by being able to reach farther out for ideas and solutions to problems and being able to communicate and give ideas and solutions back. I think Imperialism has affected Hawaiʻi for the worst but over time, it’s been getting better and we are finding solutions.

The Industrial age & the Revolutions impact my Kahiau Project as we see it globally throughout our study of history because they are the starting point. They all are issues and these revolutions and events occurring allow more people to see these global issues. The industrial revolution pours into our topic of homelessness/ poverty and shows how the poor get poorer and the rich get richer. This allowed people that were in between to either fall very short or go very far in life. This widely affects my kahiau project and also allows me and my group to think of more solutions.
By understanding these things in History and knowing our cultural history through language, culture, and activism in the community, helps us to navigate for a solution of these problems here in Hawaiʻi. For example, knowing what started the problem of poverty, allows my kahiau group to find solutions. When you can find the source of the problem, you can find a solution as well. What did you learn about how art can be used to showcase and highlight social concerns in history and/or modern society? Pic: Post a picture of your book spine poem. I learned that art can be used to create other forms of art as well. It can help portray different messages as long as you can be creative with it and are true to the art you make. As long as it resonates with you, it sure will show an impact onto others. My poem is about poverty and inequality affecting others. It shows the impact and the feelings behind humans mines that arenʻt always said outloud. It teaches us how people see others higher that one another, when in reality, we should all be equals with one another. The most important connection between World History and current event advocacy is geography and how these things happen throughout history globally. They all have an affect on us worldwide no matter what. It could frighten us or empower us, whether the case, it affects us worldwide. |
