It's the second week of Minecraft and i have a lot of work that needs to be done in my area. I have finished the Italian village, but i still need to work on building the desert maze, Prison Puzzle and the Khublai's marble palace. It has been going smoothly with the Minecraft and i haven't hit any snags other than the amount of time we have to build these areas. I am at least where i thought i was going to be in the schedule so far and i am now trying to rush the build so that i have time to make the area nice looking. The area that i am making at the moment feels like a mash-up of games but hopefully i can turn it into a adventure of sorts. My ultimate goal is to have the player experience the trials and tribulations that t Marco had gone through. So all in all it's going o.k at the moment. If we had more time to work on this project like after school or at home i think that the areas would be so much nicer, but i understand that this comes with it's own set of problems. There is much to do and so little time so i better get on it. Hopefully by the end of the day i completed my world and then i can begin working on the details in the world. Hopefully week three will allow us to get everything together and ready for the final presentation of the worlds.

Yay! It's Minecraft! This week we began working on our world of our explorer and my explorer Is Marco Polo. This was super fun to start working on. Some facts about Marco polo is usually unheard of because he was overshadowed by the explorers of his time but he still played an important role in history. Marco polo isn't famous like other explorers though. He isn't known for what he found but rather the description of the trip he travelled. Marco polo travelled across the Eurasian continent from a small town in Italy through the Middle east and finally into China. In my Minecraft world so far i have created the Italian village and i am in the process of making the Middle Eastern village above the Italian village. After i am done building the villages i am going to implement the games to make the learning experiences fun. So far i have finished at least a third of the world on my action plan but i plan to do a little more it the world is able to stay open. My action plan is this:
Week 1: BEGIN BUILDING THE BEGINNING PORTION: -Small Italian town to start off in. Begin a path towards a desert. Build the village and the path going towards the town. Build a wall that has the backstory of Marco polo on signs. Week 2: Heading to China and the intro of Kublai -Build a desert and put a sandstone village in the middle. Continue building the path. Begin building the Grassland and put down a person with a Name tag Kublai Khan. Put split trails to make the character choose his path. One path is the right way and leads to the next part. The other path leads the player into a dead end which has a sign that says what happened to them. Put a Maze or a puzzle to simulate the travel to Asia. Put signs that narrate the story as it goes on. Put books or signs that allow the NPC’s to speak. Week 3: Life with Kublai and the departure. -Build a marble palace and fill it with people. Show how Marco impressed Kublai. Then build a path that leaves the grassland back to the italian village. Make the character have to make decisions again. Have them decide which path to take. If wrong it is a dead end if correct it leads them forward. Put signs that narrate the story as it goes on. Week 4: Life in prison, Death and the effects of his travels Build small prison cell and put character in there. After a short puzzle have character escape and see a ship off to the side that has a Villager named Christopher columbus on board with a book that has the title of Marco’s book inside of a chest. Have signs that narrate the story put around. End the story with a sign wall and fireworks I am currently working well with the tech in class and so far it has been pretty easy to play. I have also been helping Kawehi with building the house. |
