Evolution to Revolution
The resources can be leveraged by a group leader because they can threaten others to work. The group leader can hold resources hostage until the leader gets what they want. This could also be affected by leadership character traits. The group leader can hold the resources that a team member needs hostage until the team member does what the group leader wants. The group leader's hold on the resources can also be affected by his/her traits, leaders with good traits will share and give if they need it, but leaders with bad traits can make work unbearable. Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. Spain was made into a Christain empire. Spain used to be an empire with different religious beliefs. Spain did participate in a religious war. Spain turned christian when Franco came and banned non-religious things. Spain helped Rome during the War of the Three Henrys that started as a debate with France and Rome. The Spanish empire was pretty advanced in the 15th to 17th empire. The Spanish empire had guns. The Spanish empire had glasses a little later. The Spanish empire made harquebus guns that had no accuracy. The Spanish empire made glasses in the 17th century. - Aaron Hirota
All individuals and their enterprises are responsible for the existence of the environment. The basic needs of life are met through the harvest of resources from it.The main connections between the environment and the economy involve the flows of resources and energy. As a result, ecosystems are often damaged by the interactions between them and the economy. An environmental study aims to study how the use of natural resources can affect the quality of human life. This concept is also related to the sustainable development of an economy. All organisms require continuous access to the environment's resources for survival. The concept of continuous access to these resources can be extended to their ecosystems. - Konale Horswill

The leadership character traits of a leader can affect the value system of a group of people because that leader can be an example of what is right and good. People want to follow their leader if they see that they are doing good in the community. If the leader has traits that are good, their people are going to want to follow in their footsteps and have those same values. A leader can show that they have good character traits by working in the community and hearing about what the people have to say and their opinions on things. An example of this is the aliʻi of traditional Hawaiʻi. There have been occasions where an aliʻi was either greedy or did not care about his people. The kanaka did not follow the aliʻi and found ways to get rid of the bad aliʻi. King Kamehameha was the opposite of this. He cared about his people and worked with them in the loʻi. He had good traits and characteristics and his people followed him through wars and tough challenges to unite the Hawaiian islands. This shows that if a leader has good values and traits, they can influence his people to follow them. - Kuhina Lunn
Geography can impact the resources of a group or community since it can impact the food they grow, which can impact the animals that are possibly being domesticated, which leads to many problems like hunger. For example, in the flipped lecture about how different latitude and longitude can affect geographical location, as the people of the Middle East who were migrating from their original home to go to somewhere with better resources ended up in Egypt and Europe, where the land had great vegetation and a similar climate from their original place. Another example is that wheat and barley became a very highly sought after plant after the ice age since it was able to be stored and grown in those conditions, which then started the first forms of farming, eventually evolving into domestication. While this was happening the people of New Guinea were trying to survive off of the plants that were in their geographical location, which consisted of sago, bananas, and taro. These plants were great but they weren’t enough protein for them. Another example that shows how it affects a civilization is the technological advancements. The people of New Guinea never had the agriculture or resources to have people who specialize in copper-silver making, which leads to them only stuck using stone and wooden tools while other people in Europe have already made those iron and copper advancements and are already using them. - Kyan Ulloa

The South and Central American Empires
A society/nation might want to control another nation because the nation might be poor or in poverty. Natural resources are an important part of feeding the people in a nation. Without natural resources, the people that are in that nation can not live or prosper. Some places like Vatican City and Japan have very low amounts of natural resources because of human development and things like buildings, factories, large amounts of housing, etc. All of these things lower the amounts of natural resources because it has a big impact on the land that is producing the resources. This struggle in not having enough natural resources can make many nations want to take over other nations that are thriving in natural resources. This is seen in the illegal overthrow of Hawaiʻi. When the Hawaiian Kingdom was illegally overthrown by the U.S, they took many of the Hawaiian lands to get resources for themselves like sugar cane and other things. The U.S has many factories and has developed on lands that were used in the continent for growing crops and foods. This shows that the U.S illegally overthrew Hawaiʻi, to possibly gain more natural resources that they didnʻt have in the continent. - Kuhina Lunn

One society’s value system can definitely impact their decisions and policies of control over another society since for example, in the guns, steel, and germs flipped lecture we learned that the society of Papua New Guinea were under the control and oppression of the Westerners that were taking their resources and giving them little to nothing. For example one of the notes from the lecture says that, “But the Westerners saw value based on race and color. They thought they shouldn’t have as much cargo due to race, which to Diamond is absurd.” This shows how the Westerners values were mainly based on color and since the people of Papua New Guinea were colored, they saw them as inferior instead of equal, which to geographer Jared Diamond is strange and unfair. Another example that we can see of values affecting choices and policies are in the story/movie called The Rabbit Proof Fence. In this movie Mr. Neville, who is the man in charge of the settlement and collecting the half-caste children, sends his officers out to collect the aboriginal children. These aboriginal children have a mix of Western and Native blood due to their parents' relationship, and they are sent to the Moore River, a camp for the children to learn about Western culture and values. Mr. Neville’s goal is to completely wipe out the black color of the half-castes and make them only learn about their culture and values. The notes for the movie states that, “Mr. Devil (Neville) predicted that within three generations of the aboriginals marrying and having children with more Western people, as the time goes down the blak color would disappear within three generations.” This shows how the values of Mr. Neville affect his decisions to take away the caste children since they have black color and Mr. Neville has a goal to get rid of the black color from them by making them forget about their religion and teach them their Western ways. - Kyan Ulloa

A leader can have a lot of control over a new society than his old one because he can show the new society that they are right and more advanced than the new society. The leader can show or “force” the new society to change their religion into his society’s religion. The leader can also impact others in the new society to be against others. The leader will ask the new society to change religion because he thinks that he is right and he has the power to “force” them to change. The leader can impact others in the new society by offering new and exciting things in exchange for being a spy or something. Take the Englishmen in the book “The Rabbit Proof Fence”. They can go to the island with more power then the natives living there and take over by taking children to switch them over to the white man’s culture. The things that shape a leader’s decision making are the people that his society has. If things are good then the leader will make decisions that will profit the society. If the people get a bad leader they will suffer the consequences. To put it this way a happy and peaceful society will push the leader to grow and expand it or grow it to be a rich and powerful society. A bad leader like King Louis XVI will make very poor decisions like to tax the poor a lot or let the rich benefit more off poor people (This made (98%) of society furious at him). - Aaron Hirota

Considering the direction that society was at during the enlightenment era and the UN sustainability rights and 17 goals we have explored. The next logical step for mankind be after the enlightenment period would be to change the way people viewed religion and the government. Thinkers agreed with deists that there was a kind of “natural religion,” basic truths about God and morality accessible to reasoning people. Natural religion was not a rival or alternative, however, to revealed religion. It was a prelude, a necessary but insufficient foundation for belief. Enlightenment thinkers also sought to curtail the political power of organized religion and thereby prevent another age of intolerant religious war. A number of novel ideas developed, including deism (belief in God the Creator, with no reference to the Bible or any other source) and atheism. The Enlightenment led other Protestants in a very different direction. More liberal Congregationalists, as well as Anglicans, denounced traditional doctrines about the nature of God, arguing that He was a benevolent, rather than arbitrary, deity. They also disputed the divinity of Christ (some began to think he was entirely human) and the process of salvation, arguing that God saves sinners not because he predestines them to grace but because he foresees the good works they will perform through their own volition. - Konale Horswill

Enlightenment, Relvolution, & it's Impacts to Modern Society
Karl Marx theory on capitalism impacted the Industrial Age because he brought awareness to the lower/working class. He said that the system of capitalism treats the working class unequally and unfairly. He also said how the system of capitalism is made so that the rich stay wealthy and powerful, and the poor stay poor. His theory also showed that the working class would at some point realize that they have the power to change the way that they are treated, through education and personal development. The people would understand this system better and would revolt against it and have a new system, where things were owned by the community. Karl Marx called this communism. There are many people nowadays, and in the past, that are standing up for this. The biggest strike that was organized was the Steel Strike of 1959. There were 500,000 people that went on strike because they wanted more ability to manage the number of workers assigned to a task, and more power to have new work rules and machinery. Money created class stratification because the “social class” that you are in, is based on wealth and power. These social classes are also based on the uneven distribution of wealth between the rich and poor. Money created a separation in society, were peoples worth is based on how much money they have. This creates a very selfish world where people have to only look out for themselves, opposed to helping everyone in the community. - Kuhina Lunn

The Industrial / Scientific revolution impacted the era of exploration because of how everyone wanted to be more advanced than the other. Aisa was the first continent to have silk. Things like silk, diseases, and animals were traded. When people heard that Asia had silk and its uses, people wanted to trade with them to get silk and figure out how to make silk (Asia heavily guarded the secret to making silk). Silk was a big item for trading with other countries because of how its use was to show off people’s riches and how it kept people warm in cold conditions and cold in warm conditions, diseases and animals were spread together when trading and people kind of suffered from that too. The factors that were in play were that of not having the resources to make new stuff, the want for new stuff for luxury, and also the need for new stuff to get an edge against others. Since silk making wasn’t shared outside the contionet people had to figure out ways to get it. Also since some other items like cotton and sugar were so popular back then that they became “Cash Crops”. Silk was a resource that only could be bought because the secret to making it again was heavily guarded that people traded for it and others tried to figure out the ways to make it. Cash crops are things that are grown then sold without the owner using it for him/herself. - Aaron Hirota

The French Revolution happened due to many different factors that still lead to around the world conflicts today, which includes bad leadership, bad political and economical decisions, poverty, as well as hunger, causing the community to riot. King Louis was oblivious to how the economy was failing and did not do anything about it, only holding parties for the rich people and continuing to raise taxes on the already in poverty citizens. Marie Antoinette also played a big part in angering the community and causing the French Revolution since she, like King Louis, raised the prices and taxes on everything, especially the cost of bread, making it almost impossible for the people to buy it, which put France’s economic status at an all-time low, fueling the community’s hatred for them even more. This caused a Great Fear among the 3rd estate (people in poverty level) since the community realized how the government could try to overthrow them, which caused them to raid government buildings, eventually overthrowing King Louis’ house and executing him and the rest of the monarch. We can see some factors play out like this in America today, for example, the Covid-19 pandemic. During this period the president Donald Trump did not believe in the virus and showed no concern for it, letting the airlines open and ordering the places to stay open despite this impending virus. The virus eventually spread throughout the entirety of America and forced a state shutdown, which the aftermath of it caused a great deal of damage to the economy. This led to a Great Fear since there were many people that blamed Trump for the spread of the virus and not taking action, it led to others blaming China for the virus and the spread of Asian hate, and others believing in Trump and calling the virus “fake” as well. Some factors that appear in Hawaii today would be the government’s bad decisions and ignoring the problems of the community. We can see this in the Covid-19 pandemic when the leaders David Ige and Caldwell, instead of planning on trying to slowly open the community and the economy, decided to shut down the state whenever there was a slight increase in cases, which angered the community just like it did in the French Revolution. After a couple of other lockdowns, some people have had enough and protested by the government’s office, trying to get them to open the state again, which they refused. This caused Hawaii’s economy to suffer and many local and small stores went out of business, which was a big blow to the economy. Another example could be Mauna Kea, where the government wanted to build a big microscope on the sacred mountain on the Big Island. They knew how important it was to the Hawaiians but still ignored them and issued to have it built on the Mauna. This neglect of the Hawaiians’ culture greatly angered the entire community, which led to many protests, rebellions, and speeches all to protect the mauna for many months. For months the people wanted to stand up and stop the government, which caused a great rebellion, showing how bad decisions can lead to different revolutions and rebellions. - Kyan Ulloa

The ideas of the enlightenment did influence the Age of Revolutions. The American and French Revolutions were directly inspired by Enlightenment ideals and respectively marked the peak of its influence and the beginning of its decline. By inspiring the French Revolution, which began in 1789. The rights of common men as opposed to the exclusive rights of the elites. As such, they laid the foundation for modern, rational, democratic societies. Some of the leaders of the American Revolution were influenced by Enlightenment ideas which are, freedom of speech, equality, freedom of press, and religious tolerance. American colonists did not have these rights, in result, they rebelled against England for independence. Revolutionary ideas does affect global change. The Revolution also unleashed powerful political, social, and economic forces that would transform the post-Revolution politics and society, including increased participation in politics and governance, the legal institutionalization of religious toleration, and the growth and diffusion of the population.- Konale Horswill
