How does Colonization set up or impact your Kahiau Project topic as we see it globally throughout our study of history? Does this help or hurt our modern efforts to meet these challenges? Explain how or why? The impacts of colonization and imperialism continue to majorly impact my Planet911 project focus, life below water. Some ways that this shows is in overfishing, pollution and sea level rising. Colonization and Imperialism changed Hawaiʻis way of life, originally there were strict laws about overfishing, and in ancient times there were kapus to keep the ocean full, but when Hawaiʻi was stolen our laws were abolished and fishing companies used capitalism to take advantage of our ecosystem. The waste that was being caused by these companies from company waste, boats, and packaging also went into the ocean causing pollution. All of this adds to climate change and makes our sea levels rise. In the Safavid empire, they colonized places instead of them being colonized, and they destroyed other cultures and religions negatively impacting the land that was being taken care of by those people. How did/does Imperialism change our understanding of these things in History through the lens of our cultural history of language, culture, and activism in the community? Does it help us or deter us from navigating for a solution to these problems here in Hawaiʻi? Explain why. Add Pic, site sources for both paragraph & picture Imperialism changes our understanding of things in History through the lens of our cultural history of language, culture, activism in the community by taking away all of the things that I consider culturally important. Imperialism impacted Hawiʻi when we were illegally overthrown and because of the American government, we almost lost our language, traditional practices, and to be proud to be Hawaiian. This connects to me, so I understand how hurtful and detrimental it can be to have this conflict in your life, and I am lucky because my ancestors were treated so much worse. This has happened so many places in the world and not all places were lucky enough to still have their culture today like Hawaiʻi is. This can help us learn from the past and prevent ever loosing a culture and standing up for people who can not stand up for themselves. We can protest and fight for what is important. Citations

Art is a beautiful way to express the way you feel about different things, and many people use their talent to help others. There are so many people who make so many different types of art to protest different situations. There are the Black Lives matter artworks that display all of the victims whoʻs lives were taken. There is the Stop Asian Hate protests art showing how they are being prejudiced because of Covid-19, and of course there is Mauna Kea. Art can be a made out of anything and mean anything that the creator wants, and because of World History we have created a simple art piece showing just that, anything is art.
My overall opinion about the french revolution is that it was very unfair and the people in power were selfish. There were such little resources such as food, water, and not a lot of access to books and learning opportunities that weren't taxed. I think this relates to my Kahiau Project there are not enough people trying to create resources to help do beach cleanups and to learn about ways you can help prevent waste that gets into the ocean. During the pandemic there was a shortage of masks for the for everyone, and all of the waste from the masks went into the streets and oceans and polluted them even more. I am going to try my best with my club, Save the Seas to create a website and social media to have an easy access to all of this information and hopefully make change for the better. While learning about World History, I find myself always comparing to things that I have learned about in the past about Hawaiʻi. Many of the things connect to Hawaiʻi, or simply the same thing happened to us. I can take what I learned about language, culture, and activism help me to navigate a solution for the problems here in Hawaiʻi. I can use what I learn in this class to have an impactful role in making a change here in Hawaiʻi to better our people and our culture. Citations:

French Revolution.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Revolution The most important connection between World History and current event advocacy is how we can learn from history and not repeat the mistakes made in the past. History has continued to repeat itself, and one way to stop this is to inform people about the issues happening in the world today. This is something that the Rock Your World Curriculum is teaching us, by showing us these guest speakers and giving us these resources. These resources show how issues that are affecting our world and how people can make a difference. Protesting used to be the only way to make change, but now we can protest in a way where everyone can have access to the information. This is an example of the difference in how we can share information, many issues would have been approached differently such us the overthrow of Hawaiʻi. We could have made more people aware, similar to the Ku Kiaʻi Mauna movement happening. This is how we can change the way history repeats itself, this is a new resource that can give us, the new generation, a way to be better informed and aware of what is happening around the world. The most impactful idea or concept that I have gained through the Rock Your World Curriculum about the importance of media advocacy in how this generation will create solutions to global/worldwide problems would be that anyone can make a difference. I realized that anyone can make change in the world just doing what you are passionate about. The guest speakers truly made a difference on my perspective on the different ways that this is possible, the guest speakers had so many different jobs, and they were all equally important and showed the different sides of being in the business of media advocacy. There were photographers, video editors, artists and each of them explained what their job entails, and how they try to make the world a better place. A great example for this would be the black lives matter movement, this movement is being shared all around the world in different ways, but everyone is working towards the same goal. This is what the Rock Your World Curriculum is teaching us how to do, to advocate. Citaions:
