Overall this project has taught me that staying active in the community and participating in helpful actives such as this really helps the world in a way. As a global citizen it is our responsibility to take care of the land and ocean or and to mālama ʻāina. In our way we are protecting the ecosystem by hunting down invasive fish. This project kind of connects back to what we learned in the classroom. We are taught to make a difference in the world. We are taught that in order for change to happen in the world, we all must take action as the people. We may have not seen the impacts of our project but we know that it definitely impacted the community.
We did some research on the impacts of invasive fish on the reef and we were surprised to see the negative affects they have on the oceanic life and ours to. Take for example, the Ciguatera invasive fish contains toxins that can make you sick if ingested. They also clean other reef life. Our perspectives on invasive changed once we found out how much they impacted the ecosystem. We didn't really predict much in the beginning. We really just thought hunting invasive fish would be easy. In fact it was a bit harder then we expected because they are harder to shoot them then to find them. But overall, what we expected and planned went fairly well. I think that our plan of action was the only way to effectively impact the ecosystem. Even though hunting these fish one by one doesn't seem enough, it was still the only best way to do it. I can't say we couldʻve done anything better because we did what we could to really make a difference.

Today makes week 6. Today me and Micah went to Hau Bush or Oneula Beach Park in Ewa. We went about half mile out today and we caught some fish. We caught Kala, Uhu, and a Cig. Around 20lbs. Today was a hot day. Micah taught me a few things about gutting fish and cleaning it. Today will make the last week for our project. Today is week 5 of quarter 4 and today makes 1 week since we last went spearfishing. Today was an early release so we had some time to go out again today after school. Today we went back to Makua and caught around 15lbs of Toʻau, Roi, and some Uku. Today was fun and we got to learn a few things. We went about I think half to a mile out. The fish we won't eat we just threw out and Micah just kept the rest. Today was just for the fun and We are planning to going to a different spot next week. Below is a picture of an Uku fish. This is week 4 of quarter 4. Today's me and Micah went to Ewa Habush Oneʻula again and we caught some Roi fish. We caught around 25lbs of this fish and other fish. The Roi fish is a very invasive fish and is something that we don't intend to eat because they can give you Ciguatera poisoning. The Roi has been known to feed on most of the fish in Hawaii's reef and this why we tried to hunt these kinds of fish today. Today was particularly fun because Micah taught me a few tricks about using the knife on the fish.
This will almost make 2 weeks since we last went out. This day was technically week 3 of quarter 4. We took a break from diving for about half of the break and we just went back this past friday before Easter. We went to the West side at Makua and we caught like 15lbs. That day we were also thinking about going to Ewa.This is week 2 of quarter 4. Today we went to K-Bay today and we caught about 25lbs of invasive fish. the water felt cold that day. We didn't really do much that day. We went to a more different spot than the usual spot. That is really all we did that day.March 30
