The empire I worked on was the Mongolians. The geographic area of Mongolia is in east asia and it is situated on mountains and plateaus. The leader I did research on was Genghis Khan, he was born in 1162 near Lake Baikal, Mongolia and died on August 18, 1227. The huge impact they had on civilization was the invention of gunpowder. They were the first to make it and bring it to war for either bow and arrow and turn it into the flying fire. The icon I chose for him was the Mongolian sword. I chose this because the Mongolians were known as nomads and always going to war and they used these swords in war. The second lead I choose was John Osorio. He is the dean of Hawaiʻinuiākea located in UH. I chose the guitar as his icon, because he is a composer and singer who dose Hawaiian music.

They are both from the Mayan Empire, but from different tribes. Jasaw Chan Kʻawill was from the Tikal Tribe, his families reign lasted for 130 years. He lived from 682 - 734 A.D. As you can see, he didnʻt live for very long. Bʻalaj Chan Kʻawiil is from the Dos Pilas, his reign ended after only 57 years, which was how long he lived. He was born in 629 A.D. and died in 686 A.D. Contrary to their last names they werenʻt actually related. I chose these 2 icons because they were both well celebrated in Mayan history, and had comparable traits. I chose the leadership traits Koa - because they were both fearsome warriors, Lōkahi - because they had to balance their own interests and the interests of their people, Naʻauao - because they had to be smart to win wars with other tribes, Courage - because it takes courage to go to war and fight one another, Discipline - because that is a main branch in martial arts, and being Politically Shrewd - because they needed to make sure they achieved their goals.

After reading over my groups iLeader project and reflection. The traits that stood out to me the most was Genghis Khanʻs ability to bring and put people together. Since he was able to do this they were all able to work together to become the most dominant nation and recorded the largest empire in all of history. Another impactful trait that Genghis Khan had was the ability to make decisions even with possible risks or consequences. A trait that I think I have is the ability to bring people together and help everyone in my group become stronger. But, a trait that I would like to try and develop is being able to make decisions without worrying about the possible consequences. I usually overthink things when talking in front of people, so I think this would be a great trait to have.
In todayʻs world there are many different traits that you need to have if you want to become a great and respected leader. The first trait that I think is really important is dedication to the people you are trying to lead. Since quarantine has started itʻs been really hard for people to dedicate themselves and find motivation to do certain things. So I think if you were to help people feel motivated then they would respect you and listen to the things you had to say. Another trait that I think you would need to become a successful leader in today's world is communication. A good leader needs to be able to communicate and connect with his followers. If you are able to connect with the people that look up to you then I think this will help drive them because they will know that you really care about them. In my opinion, these are the most important and impactful traits that you would need to become a great leader in today's world.
