It can be argued that the skills and content learned in World History this year were in fact valuable and interesting. Within every class, I was able to learn something new each time. From being able to research and write APA citations to triangulating our evidence and incorporating it into PEEL paragraphs. In class, we were challenged to learn about our Hawaiian roots and connect them to the history of the rest of the world and even to the problems in todayʻs modern society.
From all the great skills that I have learned this year, two that I might continue using in my future endeavors would first be triangulating my evidence. All the writing we did this year has made me notice how much evidence is important when trying to prove something or when youʻre just writing about something in general. Being able to triangulate your evidence can help enhance your understanding of something and prove what you have said to be credible. Another skill would be the things I learned to do in Photoshop and Illustrator such as being able to crop certain parts of pictures that I needed and didnʻt need. I was able to learn how to merge my backgrounds together so that it was neat and blended and not so all over the place. Throughout the many topics that weʻve learned this year, a topic I found interesting was the rise and falling of the different empires. With this I learned how the different empires developed but how they also fell off through the many years. I found the flip lecture of “Guns, Germs, and Steel” interesting to learn about and how they were all developed overtime. While working on the Kahiau project, I have noticed different connections to not only history but to todayʻs modern issues. My Kahiau project was based off of climate change and life on land and learning how the world is developing has always interested me. Especially when being able to connect it from back then to todayʻs modern society helps me develop more of an understanding and makes me feel more engaged with this topic.
