Functioning as a Lāhui
It can be argued that the leadership character traits can affect the values of a system of a group of people because the leader's values are perpetuated onto the members of the group if the leader is good. When we consider Pauahi we can see how her values have been perpetuated through massive groups of people. We can see that in Pauahi's will she wanted her school to preference Hawaiian students. Pauahi valued educational resources and collective learning for Hawaiian children all across Hawaii. As you can see she was a great leader, her leadership and social values were perpetrated by the trustees. In the next paragraph, we can talk about how these things are shown.

They made it so that only children of Hawaiian blood may come into the school. Overall we can see that Pauahi uses innovation in order to perpetuate her leadership values in groups. Pauahi had to use her collective intelligence in order to push her values on a selected group of people. Pauahi was an overall great leader and we would not be here at Kamehameha without her. This is how good leadership traits can be perpetuated as well as pushed upon a group. In conclusion, it can be argued that a leader's character traits can affect the system values of a group of people because the leader's values are perpetuated onto the members of the group if the leader is good.

Most frequently, Leaders would maximize the potential and advantage of resources by being productive with the provided tools and using those things to create items like the hourglass. The hourglass was invented by Liutprand, and his invention was widely used to keep time which helped a ton of people. Human workforce was one of the things used to produce these hourglasses for everyone. This shows that Liutprand used his invention skills and tools/resources to help a lot of people.

In some slight way or form, the production and use of the hourglass was impacted by leadership traits. If Liutprand didn’t use his knowledge and take the chance of creating this, theres a good chance that we wouldn’t have a good time keeper or any other advancements of the OG. “Arriving just in time for the “Age of Discovery”, the hourglass was ideal for ocean travel because the bobbing waves didn’t affect its accuracy.” This quote shows that the invention had a big impacts on people like sailors. “By the early fourteenth century, the sand glass was used commonly in Italy. It appears to have been widely used throughout Western Europe from that time through 1500.” This shows that the hourglass wasn’t just used by a small amount of people, it was widespread and used commonly within a short time span.

It can be argued that different civilizations have different traits and sources that others may not. Over time places and people have shown adaptation causing the lack of certain materials around the world. Geography plays a big impact on the way things work or function. It is an important thing when dealing with human beings and how they will persevere throughout life. As we went over in class, what a group controls can be affected by the environment around it. For example, when trying to trade with a country across the sea, itʻs important to know how they function as a society as well as their needs/wants. If they as a whole are lacking something that you have, you can provide it for them and possibly build allies which are important in many cases such as war.

As far as leveraging resources for us humans goes, the “Sustainability rights” play a huge role in doing so. The Sustainability rights means to meet our current needs without compromising the future generations to come, to meet their own needs. It has 3 components. Environmental conservation, social responsibility, and economic development. Sustainability improves the quality of our (humans) lives, as well as all kinds of other life forms too. It protects the ecosystems everywhere around us, and preserves natural resources for future generations. If we can develop without depleting natural resources for the future, we should be just fine. “Environmental rights mean access to the unspoiled natural resources that enable survival, including land, shelter, food, water and air. They also include more purely ecological rights, including the right for a certain beetle to survive or the right for an individual to enjoy an unspoiled landscape.”

As we know, geography also consists of physical features around the world. Knowing where you are is important so you know how to provide for yourself and others. Geography can help give you the resources needed to survive such as food, water, shelter, where and when to plant, etc. For example, as a Hawaiian we have a moon cycle that shows us when to practice farming as well as fishing. Understanding where you are on a geographical level can also help you know what it is you need to do as a nation in order to grow and/or evolve. Geography can impact the way a civilization behaves towards others due to the fact that they may have more materials that others may lack, and vice versa.

As humans, we have very basic needs to SURVIVE. Humans need water, food, and shelter to survive. But since the world has gotten way past the point of simply surviving, there are plenty of other things to take into consideration. For example: Drive less, recycle, reuse energy, etc. Sustainability is a huge part of human development. We need to preserve the things we have now, so the future has the things they need….to meet their own needs.
