Saraya:
I was with Anela, Ilala, and Miquela for the Planet 911 project. Our topic was based off of the first UN Development Goal which is “No Poverty.” Our message that we wanted to propose was to raise awareness towards the homelessness problem and show that people can make a difference. My experience working with this group was very productive. We were able to get our work done and we all worked together. Our video did get submitted to the Planet911 Competition because we posted it. We did not win, but at least we made an effort and did our project.Something I would do differently for the project would be working on the video more. I think we focused more on planning it out more than executing what we wanted to show.

In my Plant 911 project my group members were Moana, Tessia, and Myself. Our topic was on pollution and how it can affect the animals on land. Our message our group was proposing was “He aliʻi ka ʻāina he kauwā ke kanaka.” I enjoyed working on this project a lot because it allowed me to improve on my communication skills because we were not able to see each other in person due to this pandemic. Yes, our projects got submitted and got all the way to the final round of the project. If there was one thing that I would do to improve our project would be by adding more details while editing so make it more attractive to the viewer.

My Planet911 group was Haku and Jonah. Our topic was pollution, with the main focus being trash left on the land. The slogan my group came up with was “Feed the can man!”, which meant to feed the trash to the bin, rather than feeding trash to the ground. Me and Haku mainly worked on the script and storyboard, whereas Jonah was doing the editing. It was difficult to communicate with my group members at times, but we still were able to complete the project. I think it did get submitted to Planet911. I don’t recall how it did. But a way I would improve this project is getting a better camera angle for me, as I didn’t really have a good camera angle in my footage.

In my group, I worked with Tessia and Isaac and our topic was on keeping the world and land clean. Our slogan was “He aliʻi ka ʻāina, he kauwā ke kanaka. Land is chief, man is its servant.” The experience for this project was really good. Each member of our group collaborated really well and contributed equally with their jobs. Our video did get submitted and it was actually in the final round, I believe. If we could improve our video to get another try, I would try the editing again and make it smoother with the audio and different variables.

Impacts of Religion, Culture, Enlightenment,
& Exchanges through Expansion
Other places in the world which were experiencing their own dark ages. Due to these massive dark ages. Plenty of people were affected. People were unable to learn language which led to the decline of native language. Things that made europe's dark ages so dark which was that lots of illnesses such as tuberculosis, smallpox, mumps, etc were flowing around at the time. And overall at the time it was so gloomy and not a good environment to be around at the time.
|
These two opposite ideas contribute a lot to this shift in the mindset from Dark Ages to Enlightenment because it changed the way people thought about these things. People began to become more easy going and accepting of those around them. When that happens, people become cooperative. This thinking doesn't really affect our Kahiau issue due to the difference in the society. However, we can learn from this experience and hopefully that can change the society due to the dark place that we are in as a whole.

Some things that were exchanged globally through the silk road were people, animals, disease, and other things. Our Kahiau Issue is physical/mental health, and both of these aspects were affected during the Silk Road period. For starters, disease was prevalent, through people spreading them, or through the animals spreading them. Black Death, also know as the Bubonic Plague, was the most common diease in the Silk Road, killing as many as 25 million people within the span of 3 years. Another aspect of the Silk Road was transporting people, such as slave workers. Having to walk a long way just to be sold as a 24/7 worker, was both physically exhausting, and mentally draining.

Understanding history contributes to finding solutions to our modern-day challenges because we can address them and learn from it. If we don’t know what has happened before, we aren’t able to compare to what we are trying to portray today. We can build off of their ideas so we can be successful. Something else we are able to do by knowing past events is that we can learn from their mistakes. We can analyze what they did wrong, and try something a different way so we don’t make the same mistakes.
