My Two leaders I compared were David Malo and Ivan IV. Ivan the terrible was the grand prince of Moscow from 1533-1584. They say he got his “legendary name” because they saw terrible as the inspiring fear of terror. Ivan had great power and took rights and privileges away from his people. Ivan created things such as Trade routes from Moscow to Central Asia. My next leader is David Malo. David was a historian so you could say he was intelligent and invested in studying history. He was also a believer and held a Christian faith and founded a church and became a minister there. Some icons I chose was a Bible because they both were believers in God and were faithful. Some of the leadership traits I chose was an influencer and hard working(Paʻahana) because both David and Ivan were influential to the people of the future generations and they were also hardworking in creating things such as books for David Malo and trade routes for Ivan.

For my iLeaders project, I researched King Akhenaten of the ancient Egyptian empire. I compared him to Queen Liliʻuokalani, the last queen of Hawaiʻi. King Akhenaten became the pharaoh of Egypt around 1350 BCE, his rule lasted for 17 years. He is believed to have died in the year 1335 BC though his remains were never found by archaeologists. Queen Liliʻuokalani ruled over the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi from 1838-1893, her rule ended abruptly after the United States government staged a coup against the queen. Her passing came on November 11th, 1917. King Akhenaten is debatably one of the most controversial pharaohs. It’s speculated the hate that King Akhenaten recieved during his lifetime was due to his creation of a new religion, prior to the creation of his monotheism religion of Atenism. The Egyptians believed in a polytheistic religion, praising multiple gods for multiple different reasons. Queen Liliʻuokalani was a gracious woman, who cared deeply for her people. So much so that when the Americans threatened war upon Kānaka Maoli if she didn’t give up her role as queen, she gave up her title. Not wanting any loss of life or bloodshed on either side. For King Akhenaten I put a hieroglyph of his religion Atenism and a picture of the ancient Egyptian empire. While for Queen Liliʻuokalani, I put an image of her butterfly brooch and a picture of ʻIolani Palace. The leadership traits I chose for King Akhenaten were altruistic, passionate, and devoted. I chose these because King Akhenaten although may have been disliked by his people, he truly cared deeply about them and was extremely devoted to them as well. For Queen Liliʻuokalani, I chose kuleana, loko maikaʻi, and pono. Like I stated previously, the queen was a gracious leader. She cared immensely for her people. An extremely gracious and kind hearted leader. I believe that these two leaders are similar, in the sense that they both felt a need to care for and look after their citizens.
