Francesco Foscari was a doge from the Venetian Empire in Venice, Italy. He was born on June 19, 1373, and died on November 1, 1457. He was the Doge from 1423–1457 during the renaissance period. Francesco Foscari had the longest reign that lasted around 34 years. He was known as the doge who had too much power so his council threatened him which led him to resign. I chose the icon The Lion of St. Mark because in the sculptures at St. Mark Francesco Foscari was kneeling down to the lion which symbolized how scared everyone was because of him. The people in his time were not ready for him and his change. The leadership term that I chose for him was Koa (warrior), Ha aha a (humility) and Mana’o’ole (self-less ness).

Kʻinich Janaab’ Pakal was the Empire Leader of the Mayans in Central America. He was born on March 23, 603 AD born. August 26, 683 AD was his death. Pacal assumed the throne of Palenque at the age of 12, in 615 CE, and ruled successfully until his death at the age of 80. Also known as Pacal the Great, he is most famous for raising the city of Palenque from relative obscurity to great power. The icon I chose for Pakal was his elaborately carved sarcophagus lid which has been interpreted by some to depict an ancient astronaut riding on a rocket ship.Queen
Liliʻuokalani was Hawaiʻi’s last ruler in the kingdom. Born on September 2, 1838 and died on November 11, 1917. She attempted to establish a new constitution that would restore power to the monarchy and the Hawaiian people. The icon I chose for Queen Liliʻuokalani was Aloha ʻOe to show her impact of always showing aloha. The leadership traits I gave were naʻauao, kūlia i ka nuʻu, and kokua.

Ogedei Khan was a leader of the Mongol empire in central and east Asia. He reigned over the Mongol empire from 1227 CE to 1241 CE. Ogedei khan had a few problems in the beginning with his armies and loyalty, but he then found solutions and succeeded growing the empire covering all of Asia and laying foundations for his governable empire. From 1237-1241, the Mongols took over many important European cities. I chose the sword for Ogedei Khan because I felt he would need his sword in the battles he faced in his times of war and in ruling over his empire. Israel Kamakawiwoʻole was born in Hawaiʻi 1959 and died in 1997 at the age of 38. He was a great singer and is an inspiration to many, he is very well known throughout the islands. I chose the ukulele to represent his love and passion for music. The leadership terms I chose for my leaders were openness, fairness, assertiveness, kuleana, achievements, and excellence or maiau. They each exceed these leadership terms because they have unique qualities of leadership and different views on the world.
