This week was really fun because this is the week that we are holding our event. We planned for a long time to have our event but it never happened. So, today we are just getting our last minute plans in and making sure that we know who is bringing equipment and all of that stuff. Its a good thing that we had a long term plan because if we didn't then we probably would not have finished and held our event. I'm really proud of my group because although we did have a lot of changes to our project, we still managed to pull it off. After going through all of our phases I really understand the meaning of global citizens. I feel like we are global citizens because we raised money for our foundation and helped them out a bunch. Hopefully we raise a lot of money to donate to Special Olympics Hawaii because it really feels good to be able to do something good. Even if we don't raise our set goal of money, I'll still be happy if we raise some money. Something is better than nothing when the thought and effort is there.

This week we made a lot of changes to our project, we decided that we aren't going to hold a camp. We came up with the idea of a shoot-a-thon. So basically we would all hold one of these whenever we are free. And the people participating in the shoot-a-thon would have a sponsor that would give a certain amount for every goal they make. There also would be a goalie, that would get sponsored. Every goal that they save they get a certain amount of money from their sponsor. We changed our idea so late in the project because we felt like this is easier because we were not able to get the permit to use the field that we planned to use. It also seems like it would be more fun for the kids than just having a boring soccer camp. We found a way to promote our idea, we have our soccer coaches sending out emails to the soccer community. This idea wouldn't have a set time. We decided to have it whenever we feel it is appropriate. For example, one of our members came up with the idea to have it for a half time show. So that it would only last 10 minutes and be entertaining for the crowds. Hopefully this works.
For the past week it was basically about getting our plans together. We're trying to get in contact with someone to get our permit for a certain weekend, to hold our event. But nothing is really going our way right now. We all started getting word out that we were going to hold an event to raise money to donate to Special Olympics Hawaii. We've sent out some emails explaining what we were doing and asked to spread the word. A couple of us spread the word to our teammates and our coaches at practice. We'll see what will happen next.
We started this week with thoroughly going over our plans with each other. We are still in the process of getting the permit for Waiau Soccer Park to hold our camp there. We still have a lot of work to do. Although we have a lot of time to do this project, we really want to get it done early so we don't have to rush and get last minute things in. This week wasn't really a big week for us. It was about just planning mostly. We're waiting on the permit because that's basically what our project is about and without it we don't have anywhere to hold our camp.
We started this project of with little ideas and big hopes. But as the time flies by our project will become something bigger than just ideas and hopes. Hopefully we can earn a lot of money for our foundation. Which will make them happy, and that is our ultimate goal for this project. To bring some smiles to kids faces. This week we came up with the "where and when" we want to hold our camp to raise our money. We made some progress since we started this project. We also found the foundation that we are donating to. They're called Special Olympics Hawaii. They help kids that are disabled in a way. They make them feel better and they take care of them. We're getting involved with the people that will let us rent the park, the foundation to donate our money to and we talked around the subject of making our project be seen in public.
Week one of our project is basically about getting our ideas together and finding out which foundation we want to donate to. This process was definitely the slowest because we didn't really know how we were going to pull off getting our goal money and donating it to who? We want to help kids, we know that for sure. One of our ideas for this project was to make a soccer camp. It's sort of like a camp that we help little kids get better at soccer and do some little drills and stuff. Their parents would pay a certain amount of money for them to participate in this camp. We're just not sure which foundation yet. Once we get all of our information together and figure out what we want to do for sure, then everything will work itself out.
