I think that the point of using their knowledge to help create things that could potentially kill many does not make sense but at the same time it does. When you look at it in their lenses you can see that they did this to help them in world wars and utilize them for future occurrences. It also does not make sense to how they would use their knowledge to create a destructive weapon because they could possibly kill themselves and many others if they made a mistake. This impacts my modern Kahiau issue at a global level because there have been many protests that included using weapons that caused more violence in the past but as we learn from the past we also know that now in our modern age violence is not needed to make a clear statement that would be heard. It impacts globally because people around the world have many different views on this and some might say that violence is the only way for people to notice what you want to say. Nowadays people hold signs, walks, speech, etc, to help get their point across and many have succeeded in this form. "We may never be strong enough to be entirely nonviolent in thought, word and deed. But we must keep nonviolence as our goal and make strong progress towards it." -Gandhi. This quote from Gandhi further explains the point of non violence to get your point heard.

--> Create a video in Quicktime responding to this question: How did/does Colonizaiton and Imperialism continue to impact any cultural conflict happening in the last 3 years in Hawaii? How does this make you feel? How do you think our aliʻi would react to this challenge? What should we do about it? video response: -it impacts the overthrow -maunakea protest -military -our ali'i would react in a way that was disapointing & kapu aloha. -we should stand up to our rights & protest peacfully. last three years, maunakea protest, job loss, homeless, & the rights of the native hawaiians and not getting respect. everything being taken away. I think colonization sets up & impacts my kahiau project because women & men were treated differently & all throughout history we see the repetition of gender roles & their effects on the people/ It hurts our modern efforts to meet these challenges because people still have the mindset that women & men should be treated differently & they are often unfair. It is harder now to show people what is right & that we should all be given equal opportunities but some people do not think this way. It is the fact that because in the past we have done these horrible things they stick with us throughout history & continue till this day. Although now in the modern days we don't hear a lot about how genders get mistreated & they have to follow certain gender roles, doesn't mean it isn't happening somewhere around the world. The fact that history repeats itself is the cause & why it might not ever change the view points of some people. https://www.aclumaine.org/en/news/celebrate-womens-suffrage-dont-whitewash-movements-racism Imperialism changes our understanding of these things in History through the lens on culture in our community by helping us see how the indigenous people felt and the effects that it has on their culture over time. I think that it helps & deters us from finding a solution to these problems in Hawai'i because it helps everyone understand that when we protest or share our culture it was because we fought to save the last bit of culture that was left from being taken away and we cherish it more. It also discourages us from a solution because it still happens to this day for example the Maunakea protest. When you want to take the very place where Hawaiians deem the most sacred place on the island it angers & saddens many that have witness the past history of their land rights being taken away. But the past also encourages them to fight for their land & culture which the past helped us find the solution to the current problem. Hawaiians do not want to repeat history & have not only their culture striped from them but also their home & where they grew up so I think TMT for us was the last straw and made us realize that if we keep letting them step over us & let them build another telescope it will just happen again and again. It changes the views of imperialisms by making it look like it was a good thing that happened. https://www.hawaiitribune-herald.com/2019/07/16/hawaii-news/our-last-stand-hundreds-of-tmt-protesters-block-maunakea-access-road/ Previous The Empire, geographic area and leader I did my research on was the Ottoman empire, and moananuiakea , and I researched Mehmed II and Eddie Aikau.

It also showed me that humbleness is important. --> Explain the leadership terms you chose that your leader exemplified and why --> give your APA citations (video) The Industrial age & the Revolutions that occur because of it, like the French revolution, set up or impacted my kahiau project topic as we see it globally throughout our study of history by how they separated people based on how much power they had & also who they were. Also it was a time where women were captivated even though they had gender roles as such staying at home to care for children. During the industrial age women received a third of a mans pay and it was unfair. As seen in the picture below is women working in the factory & they work just as hard as men but get payed less. https://www.historycrunch.com/role-of-women-in-the-industrial-revolution.html#/ --> Paragraph 2: How does understanding these things in History as well as knowing our cultural history through language, culture, and activism in the community, help us to navigate for a solution of these problems here in Hawaiʻi? How does this make you feel? What should we do about it? Site sources for your response. Some of the native traditions from the movie FRPF, when following Molly we saw that they found their own way of surviving off of the land and finding food such as lizards and also shelter. We also see how they use the sky & the sun to help them guide their way home and also their surroundings. The difference in modern day society is that not a lot of people go outside to hunt & gather food but more go to grocery stores that prepare it and it isn't much hard work. Also over time technology became a new way to help people find their way around like google maps and is more easier than using the sky to help guide them. The pros of new technology & to grocery stores are that it is easy and accessible so there is no effort to put in. The cons are that being able to find your way without google maps is a survival tool because not all the time will you have access to them like if you get lost and there is no service, just like how if you need to find food and there is no grocery store there. So it is important to learn these skills and not just depend on them because one day you might end up in a situation where they are not available.
