Changes of History
Jaydee and Nakoa:
It can be argued that a group of people's value system can be affected by the value system of its leader. For example Pauahi and her value system. According to the Kamehameha Schools website it states, “Pauahi witnessed the rapid decline of the Hawaiian population, along with the loss of Hawaiian language, culture and traditions. She believed education could offer her people hope and a future.” This shows that one of Pauahi values is her culture. Her values affected her people by providing resources and education to her community to be able to use collective learning and technology to learn about our culture and where we come from to allow it to continue and grow. From this we, her people, have adapted to her value system and it has become a part of ours. Another example of how people's value system can be affected by the value system of its leader is Gandhi and his people. According to history.com “Gandhi and his people set off on a brisk 241-mile march in 1930 to the Arabian Sea town of Dandi to lay Indian claim to the nation's own salt.” Also it states that “They didnʻt want to use violence or technology during the walk.” This shows that in order for the people to get their salt trades back they have to hold a protest to ensure that they get it back, but they had to walk with pride and no matter what the consequences they would never show violence. Gandhiʻs values for his people were clear from the beginning and affected them in a positive way by getting the salt trades back so all the people could make money and to keep their jobs alive. From this his people have adapted and evolved to his intentions and it became true to what they are doing in life. a good leADER - Google Search. (2013). It can be argued that group leaders are able to utilize their resources/aina in order to help their own people. They can use their resources for the greater good. Their leadership character traits would be impacted because their morals would play a role in what they create. This could determine if it's good or bad for people. An example of this is Johannes Gutenberg. His character traits greatly affected his impact on his people with the creation of the printing press in Europe. The printing press was greatly utilized in his time because there was no other way to spread lots of information fast. Errors were also common because people arent perfect and had to copy things word for word. The printing press inspired later inventions like typewriters and printers. Therefore, group leader traits can help their people Wikipedia Contributors. “Johannes Gutenberg.” Wikipedia, Wikimedia Foundation, 10 Mar. 2022, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Gutenberg. It can be argued that geography can help a group of people by allowing them to learn more about the features of the land, and its various resources. For example, coastal civilizations would have more aquatic resources like fish, the respected agriculture, ect.; Central civilizations would have less aquatic resources and more plant based resources, and of course the respected agricultural practices. This demonstrates that geography is important for humans survival and getting to know the ʻāina will help them live longer. It is clear that geographical studies are vital for the land and the people of the land, being able to map out places and resources help us to strive. Another reason why geography can help a group of people is by allowing them to map out terrains to plan out resources for the present and the future. For example, being able to make a “blueprint” of the landscape can help the people to prosper by being able to have a lay of the land and what kind of fields can go where. This infers that geography can help a group of people because without geography people wouldn’t know where a good spot to make a field for their crops would be, ultimately hurting the people and slowly driving them into a stage of famine. This supports the argument by displaying a series of occasions where geography can help a group of people. It can be said that Sustainability Rights play a role that helps civilizations grow and evolve. The text states, “Unsustainable, wasteful growth patterns increase environmental degradation and accelerate climate change, generating effects that harm health, access to water and sanitation, food, housing and land rights, and endanger life.,” (OHCHR). This shows that without sustainability rights our society, or civilizations, would fall apart or crumble. Just like in the name SUSTAINability Rights, without it there would be nothing to “Sustain,” our society or civilizations. From this it can be proven that Sustainability Rights play a big role that helps our society so it doesn’t crumble. Sources suggest that the Sustainability rights play a ground role to mark the beginning for civilizations to grow and evolve. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), are a good way to set the standards to help resolve world-growing conflict. According to a national support team, with their Shift Project, their intention for sustainability rights is to prevent poverty expansion. “This underestimates the huge potential for positive impacts on peoplesʻ dignity and welfare by preventing and addressing human rights risks.” By using SDGs and with the correct mindsets, civilizations will be able to grow and evolve. Another example from an innovation review group at Standford explains how sustainability rights also effect the educational system as well. “88 percent of business school students think that learning about social and environmental issues in business is a priority, and 67 percent want to incorporate environmental sustainability into their future jobs.” This shows how sustainability effect civilizations, environmental issues, and educational developments.
