The skills learned over the course of this world history class was very informative and interesting. A couple of skills I learned that I most likely will be learning about in the future is probably the PEEL format, and how to work Weebly. The Peel format is very helpful in writing big essays, and is also used in college. This for me was a good way for me to stay organized in my writings. I also was able to add a lot more information while writing in the PEEL. What I liked best about the peel was the transition words. It was unique trying to figure out a sentence that was based on the topic that started with one of the required PEEL transitions. For example some of the transitions that I used a lot were “ it is vital that …. “ and “ It is evident that … “. I will definitely be using this skill set in the future. The other skill set that stood out to me was Weebly. Weebly is a website where we publish our work. It can be viewed by anyone. This is the start to making your own website. In the future one of my goals is to create my own business. Weebly can be a way for me to create my own website for advertisement in the future. Weebly taught me how to keep my work in place. Everything is labeled and when you click on it, it takes you right to where you want to be. For example our Kahiau Project. When I click on it in Weebly it takes us to everything we added that gives me information on it.
In my opinion, Learning about World War 1, and World War 2 was the highlight of this class. The facts, and knowledge gained was beyond anything else. We learned about leader characteristics, different weaponry, different treaties, and much more important information about history. I think I enjoyed learning about these topics because it gave me a glimpse of how cruel the world really is. Sometimes I often forget that the world can be a dark place. One thing that was a shocker to me was I never knew that the Japanese people were torturing the chinese just like in relation to when Hitler was hurting the jews. When listening to some of the things they had done I was really astounded. Another thing I liked about learning about these topics was learning about the different/ new technologies used in the World Wars. The evolution of weapons has come a long way. From sticks and stones, to machine guns and atomic bombs. This was the highlight of World History for me. Our Kahiau project connects skills with history to current day issues by evolving in a way that makes us as humans adapt to change from the past. Meaning, we come a long way from learning. I feel we are at a peak and only getting stronger in the way we teach and learn. Back then learning was hand written. We in the future have evolved to new technologies in school. Some skill sets that are still needed in order to continue to thrive is we need to be able to take criticism and learn to persevere through hard work.
