We went to Dax's house last week, and began to donate the clothes. We had a turnout of 9 bags of clothes. This is a lot, and can go to multiple people to help their lives easier. Mainly for the homeless, have semi-new clean clothes can make a world of difference, and help them move into society.I think we made a difference these people, and I hope that they feel thankful for the work we put in. This is what being a global citizen is all about.

Overall I think this project was a success, because we had a lot of hurdles to jump over, and we won the race in the end. We were able to collect an acceptable amount of clothes, and really helped people in the end. I think this project really helped me to understand the true meaning of a global citizen. It really showed me that even though I never really donated money, the clothes we donated helped make a world of difference. Now a global citizen is someone who puts other people, including people outside of they neighborhood or even country which is why it has the word global in it. I believe than being a global citizen is important, but there is something more important than taking care of people outside of your country. I think that we need to work on helping our community, then work our way out. If we were able to make one fully functional community, then everybody would be help everybody out.
We collected the clothes, and had a pretty good turn out. We hosted this event this weekend, and a lot of people showed up, and supported what we were doing. I don't remember how many trash bags that we collected, but it was at least 10. Now we will be going to a shelter to donate these clothes, and get them straight to the source. I hope that what we did as our project had just as big of an effect as it would be if we raised money instead.
Our weekends have been kind of packed with family, and personal things as well, but we will get this project done. We have planned that on the 29th of April we will be hosting the clothes drive. We will be putting flyers up around the area, and asking people to donate their unused clothes, to help benefit the homeless people who are less fortunate than us. This project is related to global citizenship because we are focused on helping others, and not ourselves. This will help me and my partner, because it is causing us to be problem solvers, and helping us to be better people. This will be helping others, because they can come in and donate the clothes they would like to, and make them better people as well. finally the people we are directing this project to are the less fortunate. This will help them out because it receives stress for them having to worry about where their next outfit will come from, and instead, they will be able to live a life that is closer to what we call normal.
We had to restart our project once again, because the people we were talking to about getting permits said it couldn't happen. We were forced to move on, and this time we are taking a self made route. We are going to do a clothes drive that is self run, and donate the clothes to goodwill. We will try to do this within the next 2 weeks. We hope for a good turn out, so we can help as many people as possible. We have talked to the director of the park, and working on setting up all of the permits needed. If he can line everything up for us, then we will be hosting this camp. In about a week they should get back to us about it. We are hoping that they can get everything ready for us. So right now it is a waiting game.
After changing ideas from surfing, to basketball, we have moved forward to setting up the activity. We are talking to managers and directors of the community park in order to figure out what permits are needed. We are figuring out what we need, who we need to talk to, and beginning to talk to St.Judes to check that it's okay we fundraise for them. The entire activity is beginning to set itself up, and now all thats needed are the permits, and the actual day to host this event. We are working on moving to the next step, so hopefully we will be receiving the permits and planning the whole camp out.
During or winter break, my partner and I decided to host a surf contest, and all of the earnings and proceeds would go to St. Judes Childrens Hospital. We contacted a surfer Jamie 'Obrien to help us get the permits, and other connections needed, but he never responded to us, so we had to change our idea from a surf contest to a basketball clinic. Now we are going to host a basketball clinic for the younger kids, and a tounament for 15 years and older. We are working of getting our permits and connections in order to host this event, and give the money raised to St. Judes. Cancer is a terrible disease to have, and no kid should have this disease, which is why we want to raise money for them.
