From this years History Class we have been given skills and content that was both valuable and interesting. Within our class we have learned about a lot, starting with wars and poverty, all the way to current issues now. With all of the information we have been taught, we as a class are able to connect each event to another and triangulate evidence to back it up. The videos we were given to watch were interesting and was able to help me learn information in a more effective way. Our socratic seminars were also a great way to learn information. Socratic Seminars allow you to hear other peoples opinions on a topic and see how it shapes your perspective after.
The first skill I will take from this class and apply to future endeavors will be the ability to write in a well manner. When writing, I am able to use the PEEL format to better my response. This format allows me to back my stance on an issue in a credible way. Another skill I will take is the ability to create questions that make people think. I was able to do this within our socratic seminars and feel itʻs a great skill to have for the future. The seminars allow you to defend your side or even see things in a different perspective. From this we learn to defend our stances and debate in a respectful manner. When using photoshop, I like how creative you can be when making something. Photoshop was helpful in class for our group leader project. Within the future I will use these skills and applications to better myself and what I do. An interesting topic this year was dealing with the World Wars. Itʻs interesting to see how wars originate from ones want of power. Along with the wars, we have learned about the Great Depression. This horrible time in History helps us understand the cause of the event as well as show us how many things we have to be grateful for. The Kahiau project connects skills with history and current day issues by showing a common trait shared amongst people. We are able to connect our Kahiau project to any event within history or the present. Overall, weʻve learned most wars start from the want of more power. This can connect to other events as well.
