I think Colonization doesnʻt really affect my Kahiau topic which is life below water. I think that yes people do pollute the islands but its not just tourists or outsiders that do, some people of Hawaiʻi do trash the islands (the minority though not many do) I think that no matter if we got overthrown or colonized there would still be rubbish. Although colonization could help in the sense of resources. I think that we would be able to have easier access to systems or machines that help clean the ocean. As of right now colonization doesnʻt help our efforts to defeat this problem as tourists have been very careless about wearing their masks and also having a disregard for the island during co-vid similar to when colonization first took place and disease spread was at an all time high. I think for this to change people must have a different might set when it comes to rubbish and pollutants, being able to communicate well and find effective solutions for these problems. I think imperialism changes around understanding because as Hawaiians we were a victim of it. We lost our language, culture, and we couldn't even advocate for a change as no one listened. I think it helps us understand the first hands affects of it rather than someone who has never experienced it. With Hawaiʻi being colonized it connects us to many of our pacific cousins such as the Maori people as they experienced something similar. Back then I believe that we were kept silent for these problems because we never had the resources but now we do. With that we are later in time and more advanced we are able to advocate for these problems. Social media and other world-wide platforms gives silent people and countries a voice they never had long ago. Roy, C. (2017, August 17). U.S dollar banknote with map [Photograph]. My Kahiau project is life below water, with that said industrial age and revolutions impact my goal because of water pollutants. For example, since plastic has just been invented people didn't know the long term affects for it. Now we are dealing with the affects of being uneducated and not preforming studies needed to release trash into the ocean. Although it has help with garbage with actually giving it a place to go, back then there wasn't garbage trucks to go around and collect rubbish to where it needed to go. Things such as over-production of food or mass populations in tiny spaces contributes to waste with things such a fertilizing runoff, oil spills from transportation, and human waste. There are pros and cons to the revolutions, though with all these new strategies to manage waste, there is a long way to go to fully stop pollution of the ocean. Yurasits, B. (2019, September 23). I think that understanding history as well as knowing are culture does help. I believe that ancient Hawaiʻi had a lot of strategies to keep the land clean and use our resources well. We can also use history as a tool for improvement. We can look at situations are problems that happened later in time and analyze what couldʻve been done differently. With technology now we are able to advocate for truly anything we believe in. We are able to spread word about problems we experiences and how it not only affects Hawaiians, but people world-wide. We can see if another country is experiencing that problem, we can relate to them and come together as a whole for a solution to whatever needed to be done. Thats what the sustainability goals are, its a list of problems countries around the world recognize and need to help solve. B. (2019, October 4). Hawaii’s Ancient Aquaculture Revival. HawaiiHistory.Org. http://www.hawaiihistory.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=ig.page&CategoryID=306 I learned that art is an easy way to highlight social concerns about history or modern society because of how easy and eye catching it is. I think that art is an creative outlet where anyone and everyone can express themselves in a way others can understand. Even if itʻs not about advocacy people will still take time to look and appreciate art. For example, all the murals in town some of them are just for show but people still stop and take pictures with them. With modern day events, people are looking for artwork that is meaningful and connected to them. Advocacy now is people supporting people while they do the things that they love the most. We live in a time where everyone is connected no matter where they go and so many forms of art exist now, especially in the digital world. Overall, with the new sources we have art is an easy way to connect with others, advocate for what you believe in, and help change the world. My poem is discussing the sustainability Life Below Water, so I decided to make it obviously about the ocean. I wanted it to be everything I could think of which was simple, meaningful, and complex which I think it achieves for myself. It is talking about how we think of the ocean and the creatures in it, the choice of words used to describe the issue, like below the line what does below really mean is a play on words to do we think creatures in the ocean are below us? Then as you read further is talk about suffocation which is literal, if the fish became land dwelling they would suffocate from pollution in air, and they suffocate from pollution in the sea. Its a bit morbid but for me I think the only way for a fish to escape whatever is in the ocean is death, because no matter where they go the water is still polluted and problems arenʻt being solved. I think the most important connection between world history and current event advocacy is the fact that history repeats itself. I think a lot of people always say oh well why is history important and someone would respond with well it's important because history doesn't need to repeat itself. And yet we are taught history but repeating the same mistakes and having the same problems. I think that history can be taught but it needs to be understood. The same problems such as racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, and religious discrimination. SO I guess that's the connection I can make, people say things about history yet it still happens today. I think the most important idea or concept I gained is that anyone is able to make a difference in the world. I always had the mindset that since I am just a teen me avocading for something doesnʻt mean anything because people wouldnʻt believe me. I think if I can do one small thing people my age or even older could potentially follow along and start a change. Social media is so important because we have this instant connection people will be able to connect and spread information so much more quickly and efficiently. With that being said that can change the way a lot of people get information and understanding about it. I think this is an amazing way to get solutions for things we think are wrong. Works Cited

Also an over-land route that connected central Asia to China. With this basic information about the silk roads it lead to a pass of information and diseases such like today. Trade routes and exploration are much the same today as they were back then. Trade routes are seen in different ways such as money, mail, and other goods. Exploration still takes place today as many countries fight for the same goods which are land and oil. Exploration also takes place as underground projects such as digging and drilling, where we find new sources of goods and even new species in the ocean and land. Tribes and Castes of India. There are many similarities from the routes and they are today. Such as transportation, boats, planes, and road trains (semi-trucks) are the way that trading are able to take place. These new technologies make it quick, easy, and convenient to get goods. An example of a custom would be security, long ago security didn't take place on trade routes now days things such as borders, check points, and guards/security are implemented in countries all around the world to prevent theft or any fun business regarding trading or imports.
