https://youtu.be/pqwcNYXEJSY The people who were in my group were me, Jonah, and Quentin. We did our Planet 911 PSA on caring for life on land. Our general message was to encourage people to pick up trash that they see whether it be in public or private areas. Our slogan was telling people to “Feed the can, man!” We wanted to tell people to just throw their trash away. There are trash cans everywhere for a reason. The experience of working on this project was pretty good. We had good collaboration and communication amongst each other. No one was left out and everyone did their part. I would improve this project next time by having more collaboration outside of class and possibly even meeting up with group mates. My group for the PSA met mostly during our class time. Iʻm pretty sure everyoneʻs videos got submitted to the competition but only a few other groups actually placed well. If it did get submitted, Iʻm not sure how my groupʻs video did. I think that next time we should have more collaboration and communication and even better video content. I think weʻll do fine for our next PSA. |

My group was Taylee, Emma, and I. The topic we chose to discuss in our psa was ocean pollution. My groups main message was that Our Eart is made up mostly by water in which we humans heavily pollute. The Ocean is also a very important aspect to our native culture, it is our responsibility to take care of the land and waters that our kupuna left us. I liked working in a group. My group and I were very compatible and worked very well together, it was overall a fun experience for me personally. Our groups video was sadly not submitted to the Planet911 competition. I feel that our video could’ve been better. We could have inputted videos of ourselves talking instead of just relying on subtitles.

https://youtu.be/2Td5rJQ7GEo For this project I was able to collaborate with two of my peers, Moana P and Issac T. Our video focused on UN goal 15, Life on Land. The slogan was a very common phrase which hold lots of power and it is “Malama ‘āina”. Collaborating on this view was personally very enjoyable because luckily I got good group members and by working together and doing our part the project was finished fairly quickly. I don’t believe any of our group members submitted the video to the competition. There was no real reason I think it was a beautiful video, we just did not get to upload the video. If we were to redo this project I would turn the music down just a little because it seems to be combating with the information being given, and can become confusing for the viewer. Besides that I believe our group executed the video almost flawlessly and I am proud of our finished project. |

Reflection on PSA:
After watching Tessia, Khloe, and Haku’s 911 PSA, their videos had one thing in common: creating awareness of the immense pollution problem we face in Hawai’i. If I was in this class during semester 1, I would want to focus my PSA on how our pollution affects the environment and the statistics that accompany it. I would also want to put a focal point around collaborative prevention to put an end to air pollution. I would focus on air pollution because I feel that we do not invest nearly enough time and energy to what’s at stake. In the 21st century, especially, it has been a growing problem due to the increase and demand of certain technologies, like cars, ships, busses, etc that all collectively pollute the air around us. Finding eco friendly and sustainable solutions in place of damaging products are something that should be addressed especially. In the end, I also feel like there is a lot of talk and not enough action. My PSA probably would have included a call to action because what good is words, statistics, goals, and plans for a clean environment if those ideas are not carried out?
