The Industrial age & Revolutions that occur because of it, impact my Kahiau Project topic (climate change) because since the industrial revolution humans have been releasing carbon dioxide into the air, causing the earth to unnaturally warm up. This effects our planet in many ways, and is very harmful. We as a people need to step it up when it comes to this issue, and come together to help stop climate change. We only have 1 earth, and 1 shot to stop climate change. We have years of work to do, but if we all come together we can benefit greatly from this & save our home. Fox, J. F. (2020b, May 4). What I learned about how art can be used to showcase and highlight social concerns in history and modern society, is that there are multiple different ways to do so. Art is made up of multiple different things, and can be shown in many ways. Today, in these times we show art through dance, songs, poems, videos, paintings and many more. Our generations now are very involved in Social Media, and would rather look at something than read through an article. I think that using art through the media is more affective in highlighting and showcasing social concerns. When advocating for something, I learned that you can really express yourself and your true thoughts through art and I think that it makes the younger generations more interested in sharing their voice with the world. My poem talked about pollution and climate change and how it slowly is killing our earth. In my poem I tried to highlight how it makes me feel. It was written quickly, but I think that it showcased exactly what I was feeling about climate change, and how I currently feel about it. If I had more time, I would have went more in depth about the issue, but I think that overall it was a cool exercise to show us how we could express ourselves through art & literature.
The Rock Your World Curriculum has helped with inspiring me to advocate for what I believe in. It taught me that there are multiple different ways to advocate. You donʻt have to protest, you could make art, or put your thoughts into something you love doing to show people what you can do, and what you're advocating for. I think that this generation is very creative and isnʻt afraid to speak their minds, so I think that we could see some change, and solutions to world wide problems. The events of the Silk Road, Exploration, Expansion & Enlightenment have impacted the UN Goal I chose, because the area the silk road was located in is a climate hot spot which makes it more prone to climate change. I think that the silk roadʻs trading process was climate friendly at the time, but because of evolution and the expansion of the human race and mind, our climate has drastically changed. Climate change has played a crucial role in the process and expansion of the silk road, and could have helped lead to the ending of us using the silk road, along with our current society.
