I learned that art can definitley be used to showcase concerns. It is also another way to reach different people. By doing different kinds of art your reah other people that may not be interested in other thing you ae doing o spread the word about your social concerns. Also artist can symbolize and show their concern or intent with heir art, painted, poetry, slam poetry, etc. There are so many different examples to show how mimportant your probelm is and ways to help/fix it.
\My poem talks about my Kahiau project. My project is about poverty. This poem is a simple peom that just talks about kind of what poverty is w/o using the literal defnition. And it also talks a little bit of why itʻs happening or someways that are affeting the cause of poverty.. Overall this poem could have been better with time but is good eneough and gets my point across enough for now. Poverty. What is the most important connection between World History and current event advocacy? I think the most important connection between world history and current events advocacy is that there are very similar or even the same things happening in the world today. Some examples, racism towards different races. Poverty even though we are in a different time a lot of people are struggling financially also. Overall there is so many problems or just even normal events going on in the world today that people are advocating for that are very similar. I feel like the only difference is that today people have more of a say and can advocate for each and every problem freely and more compared to back in the day where it was all by rank and the rank kind of showed or gave you a certain amount of power. What is the most impactful idea or concept that you have gained through the Rock Your World Curriculum (guest speakers and facilitators) about the importance of media advocacy in how this generation will create solutions to global/worldwide problems? I think that the one of the most important/impactful ideas that I have gained through this whole process is that no problem cannot be advocated for or spoken about. Each topic is important and needs to be and can be spoken out about to help to solve. Another concept that I think is cool and impactful is kind of how to set up your advocacy like with the mission statement, and your campaign, and how to overall set up your way of sharing the problem your trying to solve and talk about. The Merriam-Webster.Com Dictionary. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/advocacy The silk road is an over-land route that connected central asia to china, a sea routes via the mediterranean & the Pacific where goods were transferred from Asia, Japan to other large communities like Rome, and a trade route that was used. The impacts were that it Provided Employment for the worldʻs economy, it transferred Ideas like religions and cultures from region to region, it transferred Goods from region to region, it transferred people from place to place, and it transferred Diseases into Pandemics that helped to control the worldʻs population. The age of exploration caused ideas, technology, plants and animals to be exchanged around the world. Government Several European countries competed for colonies overseas, both in Asia and the Americas. Economics developments during the age of exploration led to the origins modern capitalism. So from this I think that the silk road can connect to my Kahiau projet in the sense of wealthyness. The silk traded or the people had specfically the chinese was used for many things which holds them to a high ranking. The more silk you have the more wealthy you are. And for the Kahiau project we are doing people who are low income and are barely making enough to feed themselves everyday. I connected these becuase it is saying that the people focused on our kahiau project is less fortunate and wealthy(not having a lot of silk in old days of silk road). I also think that the age of expleration helped/influenced my topic because it involved animals and different ones that can be used for food. I think that the enlightment had a small impact specfically on my topic but more of a more broad aspect of problems. Enlightment helped with a lot of things and really helped more of a mental way of thinking. This dosenʻt specfically relate to my topic so I canʻt really make a connection. These all had major impacts on the world. It also continues to shape and contribute to the growing nature today. The Industrial age can be related to the French Revolution because in the industrial revolution they definitely changed but changed economic powers. But on the other hand there was the French Revolution which was very similar to the industrial revolution but instead changing economic powers but changed political powers. Because in the French Revolution they overcame and overthrew Marie Antoinette and others up on the top of the French power. I think that these can play and impact and play a role in my Kahiau project. I think that it impacts my project because during the industrial revolution they were changing the economic powers and the economy which my project is talking about which is poverty. And during both revolutions they were helping to give more rights to commoners so that can be related to the less fortunate today because we are trying to help them gain more. These two historical events helped to change a lot, one helping to change more of the economic powers and how that runs compared to the other helping to change more of the political powers. But both helped to give more rights to the people or in other words help the majority of the people. But through also knowing our cultural history can definitely help to navigate these problems here in Hawaiʻi. One example could be starting to go back a little more to our old ways where the Native Hawaiian people were living of the ʻāina more often. But now we rely on imports coming in to feed us. I think knowing about our past and how successful our kūpuna was with being more agriculturally based can be a plus and help out a lot with those struggling to provide for themselves and can also maybe help them mentaly by giving them a hobby or something to take their mind off of things. Overall these things are important to keep in mind when trying to overcome these problems here in Hawaiʻi. I think that colonization did have an impact on my kahiau project but not a lot. My kahiau project is about poverty. And I think back then it did play a role because with people being colonized it did have an impact on their land and how much “money” or riches they had. I think it can affect the present day because if someone is living somewhere and they are not necessarily colonized but kicked out of where they live and especially if they donʻt have money for anywhere else I think that this is one example of it. To be completely honest I canʻt really think of any straight line connecting colonization to poverty but I think it can play little roles in it. I think imperialism helped me realize a lot of things that went down in history. Imperialism is when a country extends their power and this is what happened a lot in the past. For example in Europe it happened a lot to many places and it was a way to have power and be more dominant then the other countries. This is what Hitler was trying to do along with “cleansing” the people he never thought were right. But I think imperialism helps me to realize how everyone got what they have now in the sense of goods, supplies, culture etc. I think imperialism has played a very big role in history that has a straight impact to what we have here in the U.S and Hawaiʻi.
