Final Group Reflection
One major thing I learned throughout my community is that everyone has a role to play and we are all important. The best way to utilize what I have learned and the education I received from Kamehameha would be to advocate for what is right and make change. I would say this because we stay quiet when something bad is going on instead of actually speaking up. It is important to know we all have a voice in the matter at hand and that will never be taken away from us. We have to be able to advocate for change to improve our community and to be transparent to how we feel to eliminate problems in the future.
I have learned a lot about my role as a future Pua a Pauahi and how I need to serve my community. After learning more about world history and our own indigenous communities. The most valuable thing that I think I took away was that you should treat everyone around you with respect and be ready to help whenever someone needs it. Since we receive a very good education here at Kamehameha schools I think that everyone should know to treat everyone with respect and to always do the right thing. Overall, I think that these very simple acts of kindness can help make a huge impact in the communities around you.
I have learned about a role of leadership from my time here in Kamehameha Schools. Coming from where I came from, a humble public elementary school, and moving around a lot in my life, the only constant was being here in this school. It has really helped me a lot and I hope it helps me more for another 2 years. Because of what I have learned in this class, I think that the best way for me to help with my UN Sustainability Goal is to first go to college. After that I think I should try hard to have a successful company to support a non-profit organization to fight against climate change. I think that this ideal is definitely feasible and something that I might be able to do to help the world. I also hope to work with other KS Alumni because they have gone through this the same as me, so they understand the importance of the ʻaina. I canʻt wait to see what the future holds.

Competition for Resources in a Global Society:
WW1 was not the war to end all wars, evident by the fact that we had a WW2. It never really ended though, because it sparked more conflicts that started WW2. Because of the Treaty of Versailles; Germany was put through a lot, and was made into a strong force by Adolf Hitler. WW1 never really ended because WW2 was just a continuation of it after 20 years. I think that now, in 2021, it is over. But, there might end up being a WW3. It might even be soon, and it could have started at WW1.

Through the agricultural, scientific, and industrial revolution mankind has evolved in many types of ways. Thereʻs been many technological advancements such as medicine and technologies that helped different countries fight and survive during wars. During the war people were able to make calculations that made it possible for everyone to survive using minimum amounts of food and resources. I think these turn of events both do and donʻt make sense. I understand that everyone is fighting over land and resources, but while fighting we are causing so much damage to people and even the earth. This impacts our Kahiau Project because there were extraordinary amounts of greenhouse gases being used which hurt the environment.

Major lessons we can take away from World War ! & 2, is that war can start from anything and it will only end if a median is found. The most common ways Wars are ended is by the pursuer getting what they wanted or they are defeated. We should also take away that wars can be started over simple disputes and can turn very deadly for both sides if not solved quickly. One way this impacts Hawaii as a whole would be World War 2 and how we became recognized as the 50th State. Due to these actions there are Hawaiins that feel we were taken advantage of and they dont recognize Hawaii as a part of the U.S. We have to slowly recognize the bigger picture and realise the choices we made benefits us.

Planet 911 Projects
My group had Slater, Chancen, Leo, and Kassidie. Our topic was UN Sustainability Goal #13, Climate Action. Our message was getting the word out about all of the consequences of Climate Change, and telling people about non-profits they can support that are helping the cause. It was a fun experience and I like the feeling of knowing we actually made that video. I donʻt think our video was submitted into the competition because we werenʻt confident enough to submit it. I didnʻt actually make the video, I coordinated all of the information. I didnʻt get all of it, I got some, but I coordinated through everyoneʻs research. To improve the video, I would just put more time into the next video.
The people in my group were Tristan, Kade, and Iokepa. Our topic that we were talking about was climate change and how pollution affected the world. We tried to teach people around the world how they can help stop climate change and make a huge difference in the world. Working on the project was very fun and it was a new and unique experience. Our video did not get submitted to the Planet911 competition, but I think we still did a great job. The reason I donʻt think we made it to the competition was because we didnʻt go very deep into detail on certain topics in the video.
The people that were in my group were Madi, Kawena, and Emma. The topic we focused on was poverty on Oahu. We decided to focus on this topic, because homelessness is a huge problem on Oahu and it impacts a lot of people. Our group is showing the affects of homeless ness and ways of how to counter homlessness to help bring down the percentage and make sure everyone has a place to stay and food to eat. The experience with my teammates was really good and everyone collaborated and held each other accountable. It didn’t get submitted and one way we could’ve improved our video is having real images and not just stock photos from the internet.
PSA Planet 911 Project 2
After learning about Europeʻs “Dark Ages” it makes you think if there were any other places in the world that also went through similar struggles. The event that I instantly thought of was The Great Depression. The Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1939. During these times millions of investors throughout the country were wiped out and this caused a lot of people out of jobs. By 1933 there were 15 million Americans that were unemployed and unable to find a job. The reason that the Dark ages was so dark in Europe is because there was war, the black plague, everyone there was being dominated by politics, and it was also hard for the people to find trades which made everyone want to leave Europe.
Because of the discrepancies between people's beliefs between religion and culture, the Renaissance took place and spurred the Enlightenment. The Dark Ages didnʻt really suck, itʻs just that during that time no one made many technological advancements. This is most likely due to wars, and other things taking peopleʻs attention. After the Renaissance people made more technological advancements and shifted into the modern ages. This does not affect our Kahiau issue because this didnʻt directly impact technology being developed and therefore has no bearing on Climate Change.

The events of Exploration and Exchanges that occur during the period of the Silk Roads impact our Kahiau issue globally because it aided the rise in technological advancements to what it is today. In many ways the Silk Road was a benefit to society, but in a case where weʻre talking about new technology and how it makes more pollution it was not good for the environment. At that point in history they didnʻt have cars and planes. They had nomads with horses running around. According to HistoryCrunch.com, “the knowledge and religious traditions spread along the Silk Road led to the Renaissance.” Which was a major development caused by the spread of technology from one country to the next helped people from around the world develop new and improved ideas and inventions. Most of which need electricity, which is generated in ways that cause pollution. Like with the steam engine, this was an idea from Europe, spurred on by tech from East Asia. The people of the world just helped each other to get smarter. A steam engine uses steam, which is a type of greenhouse gas, which are the reasons for climate change.
Understanding history has a huge value and does contribute when it comes to finding the solutions at the problem at hand. We still use things from the past to help as a benchmark to know what should be done and what should not. History is very important and should never be forgotten, because if it is history would just repeat itself and the issues will never be fixed. This also ties into the saying knowledge is key, because without knowledge you wouldn't know how to solve modern day challenges and just be stuck not knowing what to do.
