"Impacts of the Human Species and factors of the Agricultural Revolution & Agrarian Empires"6/16/2020 https://youtu.be/-lMcvNL9y48Our UN Development Goal that we are trying to address is, Sustainable cities and communities. The issue this connects with the most is poverty. The google definition for Poverty is the state of being extremely poor. This is because the Goal is based on our ability to use "collective learning" to collect information to solve problems. In ancient Hawaii, we were known for surviving off the things that we produced by land. We were an Agrarian Culture. But in modern day Hawaii, we relied on the mainland to ship us food so we could live. Because Europeans came to Hawaii, they started an Agricultural Revolution which was a period of technology improvement and an increase of crop production. Also, Money was incorporated in to our economy. Some people had a lot of this money, and some didn't. Those who didn't have money were not able to eat so they fall into a category of "Poverty". Poverty is just one example of the goal being unsuccessful in a certain area of the world. This issue of "Poverty" presents itself through, homelessness. We see this today by seeing people on the streets asking for food, people living on the sides of streets, people living in tents, and many more. Some places you can find homelessness in Hawaii are Kakaʻako and Waikiki. Some solutions that are being tried to combat homelessness are shelters, donations, formulating a ten-year statewide plan, creating/establishing affordable housing, and volunteering to organizations to help take the homeless off the streets. Some examples of solutions that are happening in Hawaii are, lowering the cost of health care, creating affordable housing developments, producing tiny homes and communities, providing a safe, functional environment for those in need to get service, free clinic, long term medical respite beds, and permanent supportive housing units.
