Being able to watch Gandhi opened my mind to a whole new perspective. Seeing what they went through when being colonized made me connect that to my own kūpuna. When these people come in and just show up, they expect the people being colonized to just change in a second which includes our religion, our native tongues, our practices, everything. With the rabbit proof fence, in the ending Mr. Neville said something along the lines of, “if only they could understand what we’re doing for them.” This took me off guard because without those white-men, the Jigalong people would be able to sustain themselves. In the beginning scene, Molly and the other half-caste kids following her were hunting on their own. They brought back food to their mother and grandmother. What Mr. Neville doesn’t understand is that they native people do not need them. They don’t need to be changed into people they’re not. Having that World War 2 had new technology, us people in Hawai’i did deal with a lot. Being that we were basically being colonized, Hawai’i had to fight for their rights of ʻāina and resources. Our kūpuna believed that no land belonged to just one person because the land belonged to the higher power. They believed that if we give, weʻll receive which is why they were able to sustaint themselves for so long. When others came to the islands, they believed that the land could be seperated and that this piece of land was theirs specifically. This caused a lot of chaos and unnecessary things to happen. The Treaty of Versailles had several negative impacts on Germany. It was said that the treaty ended World War 1 but only in a way where it would satisfy France, Britain, etc. With this, if I were able to speak to the leaders during that time on behalf of Moaninuiākea, I would like to see where their minds are at. I feel as if leaders back then werenʻt able to truly see the bigger picture and how their actions could possibly affect everyone else's future. Having new technology helped the world to develop in a new way. Having something different made a huge impact in the world and in WW2. This new technology helped the soldiers to get the right amount of food that they needed and new medicines including advances in antibiotics, surgical techniques, etc. The soldiers were also able to have new weapons that were much more effective than the weapons they might’ve had before. Connecting all of this to our Kahiau Project, the impacts of World War 1 & 2 are still shown today. We connected our problem with drugs to poverty. Due to poverty, a lot of people did/do turn to drugs because it’s an easier thing to get to. With a lot of research, we have also seen that this is a way for most people to cope with their inner challenges. Being that poverty and drugs is a continuous problem, we have been asked on how we would be able to help uplift some kind of system that would work. Our group agreed that we would open more rehab centers but these centers don’t focus on the drugs but more towards the why and what they’re truly dealing with on the inside. Hawai’i has gotten expensive and our own people are now living on the streets. Being able to open more homeless shelters to push our community to work towards getting a home on their own is something we would like to accomplish. With the even newer technology that we have today, World War 3 could literally end the world. Our development in resources has changed a lot and knowing how much possible things could come out only leads to us ending the world in a second.

CategoriesSelf ReflectionThe first digital skill that I've learned throughout this process is learning how to work this website. On the side, you're able to add things and adjust everything to what you want on your website so that's a cool thing to do. The second digital skill I've learned is editing my youtube vlogs and uploading them onto here. I think it's unique to be able to put videos into this website. The first management skill I've learned is turning in everything on time. Knowing that I also had to do my part in the group website and my personal website, I knew that I needed to be able to do work something out. The second management skill I've learned is precision on what I'm talking about when it comes to the vlogs and me speaking on the history of the world. I wanted to make sure that I didn't sound like I don't know anything so I managed to research a lot.
