Over winter break, our group already had plans set. We looked into IHS first, I tried calling but they didn’t pick up. One of the other places we looked into was First United Chruch of Honolulu. I know the Pastor at that church, they were going to have a retreat to help people around the world so that plan didn’t work out. That didn’t happen due to lack of communication and the fact that we were all busy.
The plan fell through. Isabella was on a trip with the people from band (school). We didn’t exactly communicate during the break since we were all having to do things. I definitely could’ve done more to help and plan for the project. I could’ve looked for more non-profits but honestly, I didn’t see that we would have gone far with the project because we were always doing something during break. Since we didn’t do anything for the project, there wasn’t anything that could’ve gone right or wrong. We could have made the plans more solid and actually communicated. My understanding of poverty and UN issues of humanity are definitely improving. I’ve learned a lot of the statistics and numbers of homeless and how much the homeless population in Hawai’i grows. I’ve learned an ample amount of things, researching and looking around for information about the problem of homelessness. At the moment, the application of leadership skills in my life has been put on hold for a little bit. Since we’re still able to do the Kahiau Project slowly, I think I will be able to use more of my leadership skills to plan and to actually do what we were originally planning. |
