I think that the Silk Road, Exploration, Expansion, and Enlightenment impacts the UN Goals of no poverty, reduced inequality, and gender equality because of the benefits it brings. The Silk Roads have caused a positive effect on more goods being available in various places. The Silk Road was important because it helped to generate trade and commerce between a number of different kingdoms and empires. This helped for ideas, culture, inventions, and unique products to spread across much of the settled world. This connects to reducing inequalities because of the fair opportunities trading brought to so many people. It helps those who come out of poverty by trading what they had and expanding to get more goods. “The Silk Road and Ancient Trade: Crash Course World History #9.” Edpuzzle , edpuzzle.com/assignments/5ee128b83115e63f0b904038/watch. History.com Editors. “Silk Road.” History.com , A&E Television Networks, 3 Nov. 2017, www.history.com/topics/ancient-middle-east/silk-road. I think that the Silk Road, Exploration, Expansion, and Enlightenment impacts our Kahiau topic of gender inequality, poverty, and homelessness. These were things that helped expand trade, exchange with a variety of people, and exploration of travel. Even expansion of going from place to place. This connects to our topic as we relate it to Hawai’i because our kūpuna was very smart when it came to trading. Those that were the fisherman would trade what they caught with the farmers receive some kalo in exchange. I think this relates to the homelessness problem because not the only reason but some people end up homeless because they don’t have all the necessities and can’t afford a home in Hawai’i. I feel that we need to be more like our kūpuna and have that aloha spirit and to share with those in need. |
